La Flume is a 4.5-kilometre hiking trail in the centre of Pacé. If you are considering the town for a stay, you can also take the routes of the other trails, Bois de Champagne and its architectural history into account.

Hiking routes and woodland paths

The municipality’s four hiking trails are between 4.5 and 16 kilometres long and all start at the Vieux Pont, also known as the Pont de Pacé. This range of distances is a practical guide when deciding how long a hike to include in your stay. Bois de Champagne has numerous small paths for walking and hiking across its five hectares. A footbridge allows visitors to cross the Flume from one bank to the other. Along with the trail lengths, this river crossing gives the woodland a distinctive landscape feature.

Habitats near Pont Amelin

The three former extraction areas of the old quarry near Pont Amelin have become three ponds, where amphibian species have found refuge. The former sandstone quarry at Pont Amelin in Pacé is among the ecologically significant habitats in the Pays de Rennes. The area of the former quarry is also home to the smooth newt, described as the rarest species in Brittany. The natural heritage here ranges from ponds and amphibians to a species noted for its particular status in Brittany.

Church and old bridge

Part of the south wall of Saint-Melaine Church was built in the 11th century; the nave and chapels date from the 15th century. One of the keystones in the south-eastern chapel bears the coat of arms of the Lords of La Touche from the Millon family. This keystone adds a specific heraldic detail to the history of the building’s different parts.

The Vieux Pont over the Flume at Pont de Pacé is 45 metres long and has three arches. It has been listed as a Monument historique since 29 April 1971. The bridge’s length and arches describe its form; its listing adds a clearly dated heritage designation.

Manor houses and Château de la Glestière

Le Logis manor house may date from the transition between the 16th and 17th centuries. Its architectural features include an L-shaped layout, an external stair tower and small square corner turrets. The name La Touche Milon came into use when the Millon family became owners of the estate in the second half of the 15th century. Château de la Glestière was built in 1655 and is listed as a Monument historique. These buildings offer several points of interest in cultural history: architectural form, the history of a name, and a construction date and heritage listing.

Market and Aquaouest

The Pacé market takes place every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the town centre, at Place Saint-Melaine. Traders and producers gather there, and the market also offers organic and regional products. Wednesday is a practical planning point if you would like to include the market in your stay. As schedules can change, check the market hours before your visit.

Aquaouest is an aquatic and wellness centre in Pacé that opened on 2 July 2025.
