Bédée in Brittany combines short and longer routes with a lakeside, a medieval mound and a garden. The village has held the “Village Étape” label since 2009 and is described as a gateway to the Brocéliande destination. When planning a stay, the difference between a short walk around Étang de Blavon and a hike lasting several hours is particularly useful. The older holiday-rental search does not, however, confirm any particular property; anyone planning to stay overnight must check an actual listing, including its address and terms.

From Blavon to Motte Joubin
Circuit de Blavon No. 101 starts at the church in Bédée. It passes Étang de Blavon, Motte Joubin and the medieval garden. The full route is said to take about one hour and 50 minutes. If you have less time, you can follow the 1,005-metre circular path around Étang de Blavon; markers every 100 metres are described for walkers and joggers, along with outdoor exercise equipment. Its designation as a sensitive natural area is a reminder to treat the banks and vegetation with respect. It does not guarantee that swimming is permitted or that every section is freely accessible.
Motte Joubin is a well-preserved medieval feudal mound; its ditches are still visible. The associated medieval garden recreates monastic, castle and peasant gardens. It features plants, fruits and vegetables once used for food or medicine. This offers a different perspective on the past from that of a castle wall: the focus is on useful plants and different ways of life. The sources do not provide reliable current opening hours for the garden, so confirm them before making a special visit.
More routes and village history
For a longer day of hiking, Circuit Saint Urbain No. 105 is described as a 15.2-kilometre route taking about five hours to walk, through bocage landscapes and wooded sections. It is considerably longer than the route at Blavon. Plan both routes using an up-to-date map, suitable equipment and a return route. A shorter alternative, “Balade à Roulettes – La balade du Blavon,” runs alongside ponds, a stream, a washhouse and a small lake, offering opportunities to observe nature. The title alone, however, does not indicate whether it is suitable for every mobility need; check the surfaces and any current obstacles on site.
The 19th-century neo-Gothic Église Saint-Pierre retains elements of an older Gothic church. Its south portal includes a statue of Saint James inspired by the figure in Santiago de Compostela. A weekly market takes place on Saturday mornings until 12:30 p.m. in the Place du Lt Louessard car park; this regular schedule should also be checked around public holidays and for your specific travel date. This makes it possible to choose Bédée for its routes, natural areas and village history without presenting an unverified accommodation listing or a past festival as currently available.
