Saint-Péver combines an extensive forest landscape with circular trails whose listed durations range from 30 minutes to seven hours. This lets you plan your time here around the time you have available. The Forêt Départementale d’Avaugour-Bois Meur covers 1,100 hectares in Saint-Péver; the area also includes listed chapels and traces of earlier work and worship. When looking for a holiday rental, these themes offer practical points to consider: how much time would you like to spend outdoors, and would you also like cultural heritage to be part of your discoveries?

Forest, trails and practical information

The Forêt Départementale d’Avaugour-Bois Meur is a defining landscape feature of Saint-Péver. Eight walking trails cater to different ability levels. To choose a specific route, the distance and duration details are helpful: the circular trails described here vary considerably in the time they take, ranging from half an hour to seven hours.

At the visitor area at Ferme de Bois-Meur, there are picnic tables, toilets accessible to people with reduced mobility, a shelter and a car park. This means both a place to take a break and practical needs are catered for there. The accessibility information applies to the toilets; the other facilities are also available at the visitor area.

Three circular trails with different time frames

The Circuit des petites landes is a 1.5-kilometre circular trail with a listed duration of 30 minutes. It starts at the parking area at l’enseigne. Its short listed duration sets it apart from the longer options, without assuming that everyone walks at the same pace.

The Circuit de la vallée d’Avaugour is listed as seven kilometres and two hours. This circular trail starts at the church car park in the centre of Saint-Péver. This gives you two clearly stated time frames to choose from: 30 minutes for the Circuit des petites landes or two hours for the Circuit de la vallée d’Avaugour. Both are circular trails, but their distances and starting points differ.

Tro Vras extends the range considerably: this circular trail is 27 kilometres long, takes seven hours and starts at Ferme de Bois-Meur. The listed durations of half an hour, two hours and seven hours give you a concrete basis for choosing trails according to the time you have available. You can decide whether a short walk, a longer circular route or the extended trail fits your travel plans better.

Chapels and traces of earlier uses

The chapels also have their own historical significance. The Chapelle d’Avaugour was designated a historic monument by decree dated 24 July 1957. For the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Restudo, the designation by decree dated 2 November 1954 also includes the wall paintings. These dates and the specific inclusion of the paintings give each of the two listed sites a distinct historical connection.

Other places in the forest tell of earlier uses. The former quartzite quarry in Avaugour-Bois-Meur filled with water and became a pond. Historic sunken lanes connected agricultural plots with villages, hamlets and farms; today, walkers use them. In this same landscape, a former quarry and paths that continue to serve walkers come together.

The old charcoal-burning sites are also described as circular clearings: wood was once turned into charcoal there. Le petit Lourdes, in turn, is a hidden rock formation that was once a place of prayer and pilgrimage. Together with the chapels and the pond, these places offer different perspectives on Saint-Péver, from the history of an individual building to the activities and paths once found in the forest.
