Lapeyrouse offers several distinct ways to spend your stay: an electrically assisted ride between Lapeyrouse and Saint-Eloy-les-Mines, the Plan d’eau de la Loge with water activities and fishing, and a nature tour to the Tilleul de la Combe droit. You can decide whether you’d prefer to cover a distance, spend time by the water or enjoy a guided introduction to the landscape and nature.
Choose a route on the Vélorail
The Vélorail des Combrailles offers an electrically assisted ride of 8.5 km or 17 km round trip between Lapeyrouse and Saint-Eloy-les-Mines. The route lengths set this activity apart from the circular trails around the Plan d’eau. Check reservations and operating hours before your trip.
Plan d’Eau de la Loge: water and fishing
The Plan d’eau de la Loge covers 12 hectares. It has picnic areas, equipped play areas and fishing opportunities. The swimming facilities include swimming and pedal boat rentals on site. Picnicking and play are therefore available alongside water activities and fishing as different ways to enjoy a stay at the Plan d’eau. Check bathing supervision and seasonal opening before your visit.
The Plan d’Eau de la Loge fishing area is home to carp, roach, perch, tench, trout and other white fish. Night fishing for carp and predator fishing are also possible. Check the local fishing rules in force before your visit.
Two circular routes, different levels of difficulty
The Circuit poussette – Plan d’eau de la Loge is an easy 1.9 km circular route. Le Plan d’eau, by contrast, is a 12 km, moderately difficult hiking route marked in yellow. This gives you the choice of a short, easy loop or a much longer route of moderate difficulty. Conditions on the longer hike may vary with the weather; check them before setting out.
Nature tour to the Tilleul de la Combe droit
The nature tour combines the remarkable Tilleul de la Combe droit with a protected bocage landscape of old, monumental lime trees, hedgerows, meadows and ponds. It is led by an ecologically trained farmer who shares their knowledge of nature. Choose between two formats: an approximately one-hour visit to the tree, or an approximately two-hour tour covering the tree, the bocage and arnica cultivation. The options differ both in their approximate duration and in the subjects they cover. Tours are offered year-round by telephone or written reservation; confirm availability in advance.
Architecture at Église Notre-Dame
Église Notre-Dame adds an architectural dimension to the nature and water activities. Its nave is unusually asymmetrical; this shape resulted from the rebuilding of the south side in the 19th century. The building’s history thus explains the church interior’s distinctive form and offers a cultural point of interest when exploring Lapeyrouse.
