A footpath along the Bédat, a clock tower with its original clock mechanism, and a cultural centre offering everything from theatre to music give Cébazat several specific points of interest. You can consider the town for your trip based on its historic buildings, walking opportunities or cultural attractions. The Chemin de La Chute runs through the centre and connects historic sites; Sémaphore provides a distinct cultural focus.

On foot along the Bédat and through the town centre

The Chemin de La Chute is a footpath that runs through the centre of Cébazat and along the River Bédat. It connects historic sites and the local heritage. QR codes mark points of interest along the way and provide additional information. A footbridge built in June 2025 allows you to cross the river and continue along the Chemin towards Rue du Bédat. If you plan to use this route, you can check the conditions on site if needed.

Towers, a church and traces of the past

The Tour de l’Horloge, also known as the Porte des Farges, was built in the 15th century as part of the fortifications and restored in 1754. The tower still contains a clock mechanism made by clockmaker Auguste Roure in 1899. These dates tell the story of different stages: the clock mechanism was made more than a century after the tower was built and restored.

The Église de Cébazat is the oldest building in the municipality. A text from the 11th century attests to its existence; canons settled there in the early 12th century. Another historic trace is the Lanterne des morts, which is listed in the register of Monuments historiques. Its dating to the 15th century is uncertain, and its origins are also disputed.

Green spaces and trails

Parc Pierre-Montgroux is a 6.7-hectare natural and landscaped park in the town centre, ideal for walks. The park has a shallow pool covering 6,230 square metres. That is just under one tenth of the park’s area, giving you a sense of the pool’s size in relation to the entire green space. The Domaine de la Prade also offers quiet, shady areas for walks.

For a different kind of walk, Cébazat provides access to a 42-kilometre network of trails through the Massif des Côtes. The natural area is designated an Espace naturel sensible. Unlike the footpath through the town centre, this is a trail network on a larger scale. You can therefore choose between a walk connected to the town and river, and trails in a designated natural area, without treating the two as a single route.

Culture at Sémaphore

Sémaphore is a cultural centre in Cébazat offering theatre, circus, dance and music. The centre supports emerging artists through residencies and co-productions. Its cultural profile therefore extends beyond historic buildings to include support for artistic work. The Sémaphore en chanson festival is 99.9 percent devoted to French chanson; its programme may change. If you are choosing Cébazat for its cultural attractions, you will find both a clearly defined festival focus and several performing arts under one cultural centre.
