Thermal waters, half-timbered houses and destinations by the lake give Casteljaloux several distinct facets. When planning your trip, it helps to decide on your main focus first: are you interested in thermal facilities, the old town, or nature and leisure destinations? Each place has its own character. You can shape your stay around one theme or combine different interests.

Thermal facilities: the baths and spa treatments

Les Bains de Casteljaloux include indoor and outdoor thermal-water pools, a Japanese bath at 37–38 °C, two whirlpools and sensory showers. The Japanese bath adds a specific temperature feature to the bathing facilities. Thermes de Casteljaloux offer a different focus: they provide approved thermal treatments to relieve rheumatism and joint pain. Discuss medical indications with the provider. The bathing facilities and spa treatments are therefore different options to consider when planning; if you are travelling for treatment, you should also discuss the indication with the provider.

Old town and cultural history

The old town has around forty half-timbered houses dating from the 16th century, with upper floors that project outwards. Maison du Roy is also one of Casteljaloux’s notable historic buildings. If you would like to explore the town’s history on a guided tour, you can contact the association « Les Amis de Casteljaloux », which offers town tours from March to November. Exact dates may vary, so check in advance.

The Conservatoire rural de Gascogne offers another way to discover the region’s history. Its collection features more than 350 tractors and old agricultural and forestry machines. These include older animal-drawn equipment as well as materials related to resin harvesting. The collection therefore covers more than tractors, including traditional working practices. As visiting arrangements may change, check visiting hours in advance.

Riverside, park and lakeside routes

Parc municipal d’Albret is located on the banks of the clear River Avance and is landscaped with large trees and flowerbeds. At its centre are castle ruins that housed Jeanne d’Albret and Henry de Navarre, later Henri IV, in the 16th century. You can visit the park on a self-guided walk. Check the current visitor arrangements before your visit.

Circuit n°446 follows the Voie Verte SO, which is shared with cyclists. From the town centre, the route follows the Voie Verte SO Vélo and runs along the shores of Lac de Clarens and the Avance. A summer option on Circuit n°446 goes around Lac de Clarens. An entrance ticket is required for swimming and activities at the lake; check the current admission arrangements in advance. Also check the route again before setting out.

Golf de Casteljaloux is located in the Landes de Gascogne forest; the golf course offers a view of Lac de Clarens. For a different kind of activity, Centre équestre de Casteljaloux offers rides for beginners and experienced riders. The centre welcomes visitors year-round, but ride dates may vary. Aquafun Park de Casteljaloux is a seasonal inflatable water park for visitors aged six and over. Its operating dates may vary, so it is advisable to check before planning your trip.
