In Labastide-D'armagnac, Armagnac is more than just a museum topic: the Ecomusée brings together history and production with the local terroir and the area's flora and fauna. A geocaching trail explores its history, production and ageing. Architecture and cultural events are also part of the picture. When planning your trip, you can therefore choose between Armagnac-related attractions, individual buildings and an event date.

Discover Armagnac and how it is made

The Ecomusée de l’Armagnac presents the history and production of Armagnac while also exploring the terroir and the area's flora and fauna. A cultural delicatessen shop complements the experience. A visit is about more than just Armagnac production and ageing: the museum also explores its connection to the region and its natural environment.

The Terra-Aventura trail “Longue vie à l’Armagnac” is a 3 km geocaching activity on foot. It explores the history, production and ageing of Armagnac. The stated duration is about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the trail is free. Check the price and duration again before planning, as these details may change.

Architectural history and collections

The Temple des Bastides was built in 1607 as a Protestant temple and is now used for temporary exhibitions. The church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption offers a different perspective on religious architecture: its trompe-l’œil, protected as a historic monument, dates from 1831 and covers the back wall of the choir. Trompe-l’œil uses optical illusion to create an impression of spatial depth. The church itself is listed as a historic monument.

The Château du Prada was built in 1764 by Victor Louis for the de Bouglon family. A guided visit takes in the monumental staircase, antique furniture and fireplaces, as well as the cellars with old Armagnac. If you plan a visit, check the dates and visitor arrangements in advance, as they may change.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame des Cyclistes also preserves a collection connected with sport: since 1959, it has held jerseys worn by famous cyclists and unusual bicycles. Together, the buildings and collections offer a range of perspectives, from Protestant history and church art to architecture, Armagnac and cycling.

Cultural events throughout the year

The summer festival l’Oreille en place takes place each year over several days in the centre of Labastide-D'armagnac. Theatre, music and conferences come together in a multi-day programme, distinct from visits to individual historic sites. The programme changes from year to year, so check the exact dates if you want to plan your trip around it.

During Armagnac en FĂŞte, the Place Royale comes alive for two days with markets, concerts, meals, distillation and other events centred on Armagnac. The programme varies with each edition. Unlike the summer festival, which features theatre, music and conferences, this two-day celebration focuses specifically on Armagnac and related activities.

Planning visits and routes

Independent travellers can explore the monuments of Labastide-D'armagnac using information panels. A visitor map is available free on request. The panels and map offer different ways to find your bearings: you can explore the monuments on your own or request a copy of the map.

The “Circuit de la ronde des Châteaux” walking route starts in Labastide-D'armagnac, covers 12.8 km and combines nature with the architectural heritage of the Armagnac region. As of 17 August 2026, the route was marked as closed. Check its current status before setting out and adding it to your plans.

If a festival is the reason for your trip, check its dates before planning your sightseeing days and accommodation.
