Razac-De-Saussignac can be explored through two distinct themes: its wine tradition and the history of its church and wineries. For wine enthusiasts, the options range from tastings and conversations about wine to different approaches to production. Each estate also has its own focus; the Church of Saint-Barthélemy adds an architectural history dating back to the 11th century to the wine experience. When choosing, consider whether you are looking for a specific tasting, a scheduled tour, or primarily cultural history.

Wine and Different Ways to Visit

At Château Court-les-Mûts, visitors are welcomed in the wine cellars, the oenology laboratory, and the wine museum. The Sadoux family talks with visitors about wine and wine traditions; guests can also receive an introduction to wine tasting. The estate also produces a Saussignac from a late harvest of old Sémillon vines. This brings a distinctive wine profile together with a visit that includes conversation and an introduction to tasting. As visitor programs and reception arrangements may change, confirm them before your visit.

Château Le Chabrier was founded in 1640 and produces dry and sweet white wines, as well as red and rosé wines, under the rules of certified organic farming. Guided tours are available by prior appointment only. Arrange your visit in advance. Production practices may change, so check which rules are currently followed before your visit.

The entire Domaine Le Payral converted to organic farming in 2005. Since then, principles of biodynamic farming and avoiding sulfites have also been applied in the vineyard and cellar. Visitors are welcomed for wine tastings in a 19th-century Gironde manor house. This makes the farming methods and the tasting venue two distinct highlights. Confirm the current tasting arrangements and check the production practices in effect before your visit.

At Domaine Le Castellat, its landscape setting and family history offer two different points of interest: the vineyard lies on the northeastern slope and overlooks the Dordogne Valley; vines and wine have been tended at the estate for six generations. The estate has a tasting cellar. Tours are available by prior appointment; check the current arrangements in advance.

Church of Saint-Barthélemy: A Long Architectural History

The Church of Saint-Barthélemy in Razac-De-Saussignac dates back to the 11th century and was extensively remodeled in the 19th century. These two dates show that its architectural history encompasses both early origins and a significant later transformation. If you want to explore cultural heritage as well as wine, the church offers a clear historical counterpoint: the focus here is on architectural history, not production or tasting.

The ways to visit also differ: at Château Court-les-Mûts, conversation and an introduction to tasting are central; Le Payral welcomes visitors for wine tastings, while tours at Le Chabrier and Castellat require an appointment. Choose according to the experience that interests you, and confirm the arrangements for each offering in advance.
