Logelheim offers a range of points of interest: a municipal orchard near the Ill, a fishing pond, a sports and leisure complex, and local cultural history. When choosing a destination, visitors who value nature, recreation and history can consider these themes separately. The orchard focuses on fruit varieties and habitats, while the church and the game of Quilles offer insights into local history and culture.

Orchard and fishing pond

The municipal orchard contains around 30 fruit trees, including apple, pear, cherry and plum trees. Information boards explain the different fruit varieties, giving the site an educational focus as well. A brushwood hedge adds to the tree population by providing a habitat: it offers space for beneficial insects such as lacewings and serves as a refuge for small mammals, including hedgehogs. So the connection with nature here goes beyond the fruit trees. A picnic table was also installed in the orchard in 2022.

The municipal fishing pond offers a different kind of experience. Its design takes biodiversity and the natural surroundings into account. At the same time, the pond is a place to meet and relax, and is often a setting for impromptu picnics. The orchard and pond therefore represent different aspects of nature: one focuses on fruit varieties, trees and the hedge as a habitat, while the other is about the nature-friendly design of a place for recreation.

Recreation by the Ill

At the end of Rue Lazare de Schwendi, along the Ill, is a 1.35-hectare sports and leisure complex. It includes a children’s playground and a city park for young people. The complex thus complements the nature-oriented sites with a dedicated municipal recreation area.

One specific example of a sporting event is the “La Ruée des Fadas” run. In 2024, the course in Logelheim covered eight kilometres around the multi-purpose hall and included around 30 different obstacles. After taking place in each of the two preceding years, the event held its third edition in 2024. The course and obstacle count refer to that edition.

Church, Quilles and local history

Saint-Maurice Church is mentioned as a parish church as early as the 8th century and was dedicated to Saint Maurice in the 12th century. In addition to regular Masses, choral singing and small concerts are occasionally held there. These historical details and occasional musical events offer two different perspectives on the church: its long religious history and its role as a venue for events.

The game of Quilles Saint-Gall is also part of the local heritage. The “Schiffalafascht” was among the regular events held by a Quilles club in Logelheim in 2024; that year, it took place for the tenth time. Here, too, culture and the history of events are closely tied to the village, while the edition mentioned provides a specific point in time.

A historical connection extends beyond Logelheim: the ruins of Hohlandsberg Castle, in the area above Wintzenheim, are linked to the village through the former Lordship of Hohlandsberg. Logelheim was once part of this lordship. The castle itself is outside Logelheim.
