In Lievestuore, the range of things to do spans from an amusement park and motorsports to railway history, cultural trails and waterside destinations. If you are looking for a holiday rental, you can start by considering which of these interests will shape your stay. For karting, events and winter activities, it is also worth taking the season or specific dates into account.
Amusement park and motorsports
Nokkakivi Amusement Park in Lievestuore features a roller coaster, the Ketkula haunted house and a Ferris wheel. For motorsports enthusiasts, Ruuhimäki Circuit is another specific destination: the outdoor karting track is 1,240 metres long. Karting Center has an outdoor karting track in summer, an ice karting track in winter and a driving practice track all year round. As seasonal opening arrangements may change, check the latest operating information before travelling.
Competitions are also part of the town’s motorsports offering. A municipal notice dated 4 February 2025 describes the Central Finland Motorsport Centre in Lievestuore as a venue for several competitions each year at Finnish championship level and across various motorsports disciplines. The annual programme may change; if you want to attend a particular competition, check the event dates.
Railway history and cultural trails
The railway’s history can be traced to two different dates: the tracks on the Jyväskylä–Pieksämäki line had reached Lievestuore by November 1916; provisional civilian train services began on 1 June 1918. The cultural trail collection features the railway as one of its themes, alongside other cultural history landmarks.
The destinations shown on the maps include the Haarla shore, Lievestuore’s old shops, the railway and the old schools, along with other related themes. The cultural trails are presented as map views that open in Google Maps in a new tab. If you are planning your visit around a specific map point, check that the linked map view is available.
Liisan Tarinat Kulttuurikuukausi is an event series jointly organised by local associations. It runs for several months, from September to December. If you are planning a trip around an event, check the dates for the relevant edition. Another possible reason to visit is a farm in Lievestuore, where guests can get to know reindeer, rabbits, horses and other animals up close.
Harbour and seasonal trails
The Lievestuore harbour is in Luikkalahti, at Majaniementie 6 A. At Lievestuoreenjärvi, Haarlanranta is a boat ramp or landing stage at Majaniementie 6a. The two details refer to different waterside locations.
The Mustavuori recreation area is four kilometres from the centre of Lievestuore. It has circular trails of 3, 5, 7 and 9 kilometres. This lets you choose a loop to suit your preferred distance.
In winter, cross-country ski trails run through the Mustavuori area. When weather conditions are suitable, an ice trail also runs from the shore at Mustavuori to Lievestuore. The 3- and 5-kilometre ski trails are lit in winter. The options therefore vary by season: weather conditions determine whether the ice trail is available, while lighting is specifically mentioned for the two shorter ski trails.
Choose your stay based on what you want to do
When looking for a holiday rental, you can plan your trip around your main interest: motorsports and karting tracks, cultural history and the event series, or the trails and ski tracks in nearby Mustavuori each offer a different focus. Be sure to coordinate your travel dates with seasonal activities and event schedules, especially if a particular experience is the main reason for your visit.
