Keibu combines a coastal landscape with a clear focus on conservation. For travellers who put nature and scenery at the heart of choosing where to stay, the beach, dunes and forest are natural points of interest. Its specific features range from the sand at Keibu Bay to a special conservation zone with its own area and a boundary along the coast. This makes it possible to consider the coastal aspect together with landscape conservation.

Sandy beach and protected landscape

Keibu Bay has a clean sandy beach with singing sand. The beach is characterised by two specific features: its cleanliness and its singing sand. This offers a clear coastal focus when choosing a destination, complemented by the protected dune and forest landscape and its connection to nature conservation.

A previously unprotected part of the Keibu dune field was placed under protection within the Keibu Special Conservation Zone. The dune and forest area within the zone forms a single unit with the area that was already protected. The development of its protected status and the connectedness of the protected landscape areas thus offer two perspectives on Keibu. For travellers who also want to see the coastal landscape as a protected area, the dune and forest area is an additional point of interest.

Keibu in the Nõva Nature Reserve

The Nõva Nature Reserve includes the village of Keibu. The Keibu Special Conservation Zone covers 414 ha, with the coastline forming its northern boundary. The village and the area describe different spatial levels: Keibu is a village within the Nõva Nature Reserve, while the number of hectares indicates the size of the special conservation zone. This distinction is useful for orientation, as the village’s setting and the zone’s area can be considered separately.

The coastline plays a dual role: it is part of the coastal theme and also marks the northern boundary of the special conservation zone. Together with the area figure, this gives a concrete sense of the scale of the protected landscape. Visitors interested in Keibu for its beach and nature conservation can thus distinguish between the beach itself and the area’s protected status.

Keibu campfire sites

Up to six four-person tents are allowed at Keibu campfire site I. This gives campers a specific upper limit for planning their stay at the first site. Groups can plan the number and size of their tents around this rule. When organising a group, therefore, consider not only the number of people but also the number of tents needed and the intended four-person tent size.

To reach Keibu campfire site II, drive 600 m further. This adds a separate direction for the second site to the tent rule for the first. If you take both numbered sites into account when planning, you can weigh tent capacity and onward travel as separate considerations: the tent limit applies to site I, while the additional distance leads to site II.
