Libkova Voda brings together the history of its castle and church with a hiking trail that passes through the village. The single-storey castle, the Church of St Peter and Paul, and the early Baroque stone wayside shrine each offer a different historical perspective. This gives you a clear choice when planning your visit: focus on the buildings and their different periods of origin, or take a longer circular route that passes through Libkova Voda.

Castle, fortress and memorial tree

Libkova Voda Castle is a single-storey, modern-era Neoclassical building. It was built on the site of a former fortress. The history of the site therefore includes both the castle and the earlier fortress—two distinct chapters that should be distinguished when considering the building.

A small-leaved lime tree stands in front of the castle and is considered a memorial tree. Its age is estimated at 300 to 400 years. This is an approximate estimate, not an exact dating. Alongside the castle’s history, the tree offers another local point of interest, distinct from the building through its own stated age.

Apartments in the castle

Libkova Voda Castle offers four-star-standard apartments in a single-storey castle building with a picturesque courtyard, a granary building and extensive gardens. The accommodation is therefore explicitly located in the castle building. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can consider this accommodation as one specific option for a stay in Libkova Voda.

Church of St Peter and Paul

The Church of St Peter and Paul was founded between 1340 and 1350 under Arnošt of Pardubice. Its building history can be understood in several stages: it was remodelled in the Baroque style from 1686 to 1691, and the present-day tower was built in 1873. The founding, remodelling and tower therefore represent different periods and should not be reduced to a single construction date. Visitors interested in architecture will find a timeline that runs from the medieval origins through the Baroque remodelling to the 19th-century tower.

Wayside shrine at the village entrance

The stone wayside shrine stands prominently at the village entrance and dates from 1692. It is early Baroque and can also be described by its architectural details: the rectangular shaft has a slightly widened base, the top widens upwards, and the chapel is pierced by niches. Alongside its style and date, the shape of the shaft, the upper section and the niche chapel are characteristic features to note.

Circular route and wayfinding

The Pelhřimovský prstýnek II circular route is 47.5 kilometres long and passes through Libkova Voda. Its length is a useful reference when planning your own hike; check current route conditions before setting out. A hiking sign also points towards Čelistná along the yellow-marked trail. These two details provide different kinds of guidance: the circular route is defined by its length and course, while the sign indicates a trail marking and direction.

The hill by the cemetery outside Libkova Voda is a suitable place to rest and enjoy the view. This adds a named place for a break to the route guidance. The view is described as a general advantage of the resting spot, without specifying a particular direction.
