Different considerations come together when planning a stay in Bohdalice-Pavlovice: How can you discover the local architectural history, what religious and cultural events are on the calendar, and what nature-related attractions can be found in Pavlovice and Manerov? The answers range from classical church buildings and a castle with restricted access for visitors to protected areas with their own habitats. Architecture, events and walks each offer different focuses for planning a trip.

Churches and a castle: different periods of construction

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Bohdalice-Pavlovice is classical in style and features late Baroque elements. It was built between 1807 and 1814. Its exterior features also tell a story of different eras: there is a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the early 18th century and a stone cross dating from 1845. The Manner family crypt is located beneath the presbytery. This church building therefore brings together architecture, a burial site and outdoor monuments, which can be considered separately.

BohdalickĂ˝ Castle dates from the first quarter of the 19th century and stands on the original site of a Renaissance fortress. Its current use is important when planning a visit: the castle is used as a school and is normally not open to the public. Its architectural history should therefore not be confused with the expectation of a regular interior visit. Those interested in the development of the area can consider the classical building and its connection to the older site as two distinct historical layers.

Religious traditions and cultural events

A pilgrimage in honor of the Assumption of Mary takes place at the parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Bohdalice on August 15. The Carské slavnosti follow a different schedule: they take place every two years in November. The program includes a historical reenactment, a military camp, battle demonstrations and a presentation of historical costumes. If you are traveling for one of these events, you should confirm the date of the next edition locally.

The Tomáš E. Müller Museum is currently showing exhibitions about legionnaires from Bohdalice and the surrounding area, as well as women in the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps. This gives a visit to the museum a clear historical focus. As these are current exhibitions, it is advisable to check the exhibition list before your trip. This helps you plan your visit around the subject matter actually on display.

Nature around Pavlovice and Manerov

The Ve Žlebcách Nature Reserve lies east of Pavlovice. Mixed woodland, Turk's cap lilies, lungwort and wildflowers are part of its habitat; toads are also found there. The original mix of deciduous woodland and various herbs makes this a nature attraction distinct from the architectural sights. There are paths for walks in the protected area.

The Pahorek Natural Monument lies east of Manerov. Its protection focuses on thermophilic Pontic-Pannonian plant communities and wild animals, especially amphibians. This gives Pahorek a different focus from Ve Žlebcách: plant communities and amphibians are particularly prominent here, while Ve Žlebcách features mixed woodland, herbs and the plant species mentioned above. A blue-marked hiking trail also passes through Pavlovice. These details offer different nature and hiking connections without specifying a particular route between the areas or a walking time.
