Kašnice brings together interests in wine, local produce, outdoor activities and history. When planning a trip, timing matters as much as the theme: producer sales are seasonal, the cycling route is represented by only a short section, and visits to events require checking the relevant year. This lets you decide whether to focus on tastings, cycling or local history.
Wine and local produce
Visitors can taste burčák and wine at local wineries. The Vinařství Josef Valihrach winery’s wine shop is located at Kašnice 52. It stocks the winery’s full range, selected foreign wines and additional wine-related goods. If you mainly want to sample wines, the tastings are the right option; if you are looking for wines or wine-related goods, you can browse the wine shop’s selection. As the range and opening arrangements may change, check the current details before visiting.
In summer, travellers passing through can buy apricots, apples, grapes, pears, walnuts, eggs, potatoes, garlic and onions from small local producers. This is a seasonal shopping option that extends beyond wine to include fruit, nuts and other food products. If you want to buy specific items, check what is currently available locally before making firm plans to shop.
Cycling and sports
A short section of the Moravská vinná cycling route runs through the southeastern part of the cadastral area of Kašnice. Check the signs and surface conditions before setting off. Sports enthusiasts can use the multi-purpose sports field free of charge; users can collect the keys locally. Arrange the key handover before using the field. Planning therefore differs depending on the activity: for the cycling route, the focus is on route conditions; for the sports field, it is on arranging the keys. If you prefer a route ride, focus on the short section; if you plan to play sports locally, allow for the key handover.
Festivals and local history
The Kašnická traktoriáda held its fourth edition in 2023; it will not take place in 2026. These dates distinguish a past edition from the event’s status in a specific travel year. If you want to travel for the Traktoriáda, check its status for the year you have in mind instead of assuming that a later edition will follow from the 2023 event. A 2019 listing describes Kašnické hody as traditional folk-costume celebrations with an afternoon and an evening programme. Check the current dates for these celebrations too before planning your trip around them.
Kašnice was founded in 1785. The newly straightened Imperial Road ran from Krumvíř through Kašnice along the ridge and on to Těšany and Brno. This offers two complementary historical perspectives: the year of foundation places the settlement’s origins in time, while the route shows Kašnice as part of a road running along the ridge. The area’s history can thus be explored through a date and a specific route.
