Pravetín combines a protected, agriculture-shaped cultural landscape with traces of local history and routes for cycling, Nordic walking and outdoor learning. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment in Pravetín can shape their stay around the landscape, local history or exercise on the routes described below. The following distinctions make it easier to decide which themes to focus on during your trip.

Cultural landscape and preserved traces

The Pravětín–Skláře–Veselka heritage zone protects a continually evolving, agriculture-shaped cultural landscape. Its preserved field pattern is considered valuable evidence of medieval settlement in the area around Vimperk. The layout of the landscape itself is therefore part of its protected character.

The radial strip-field layout of Pravětín has largely been preserved in the western and northern parts of its cadastral area, including the division into individual plots. The strip-field layout reflects a radially organised pattern of fields; here, the focus is on the arrangement of the land. The heritage zone’s cultural landscape also offers an unobstructed view of the Boubín Massif. Washery spoil heaps from gold mining have been preserved along the Pravětínský potok. The plot pattern, the view of the massif and the spoil heaps offer different ways to explore the landscape.

Cycling routes, Nordic walking and a nature trail

The “Údolím Pravětínského potoka” cycling route is 29 kilometres long and marked with red tourist signs. It runs along paved paths, roads and forest tracks; the ride takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. The route reaches Pravětín via Táflová Huť and then follows the Pravětínský potok towards Vimperk. Its length and approximate duration help with planning your time; check the route markers on site.

The “Pravětínský okruh” Nordic walking route has a different focus. It avoids busy roads and runs mostly through open countryside, but also passes through the inhabited area of Pravětín and two holiday-home settlements. Open countryside and built-up sections alternate along the way. By comparison, the cycling route is characterised by its combination of paved paths, roads and forest tracks, as well as its course along the stream. The two routes can be distinguished by activity and route character.

The starting point of the Vimperská lesnická naučná stezka nature trail is in the vicinity of the Pravětín settlement. The trail is about 13 kilometres long and has 30 information boards in three language versions. Its approximate length and information boards offer another way to explore a theme on an outing: visitors who enjoy learning along a nature trail can approach it differently from the cycling route, with its approximate duration, or the Nordic walking route through open and inhabited areas.

Local history and the chapel

Local history also complements the themes of landscape and routes. During the Hussite Wars, Pravětín was burned down and subsequently rebuilt. The Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands in the village square. The story of the rebuilding and the specific building offer two different ways to engage with the village: a historical turning point and a named location in the village. Those who would like to focus on local history as well as landscape and exercise will find another theme for their stay here.
