Hrazany combines local history with two routes that pass through the village. At its heart is the chapel dedicated to the Holy Spirit; memorial lime trees, crosses and a memorial stone provide further historical points of interest. Cycle route 1154 and a red-marked hiking trail also connect the village to routes with named endpoints.
Chapel and memorial sites
At the heart of Hrazany stands the chapel dedicated to the Holy Spirit. It was built in 1926 and extensively renovated in 2003. The two dates mark its construction and a later renovation. The chapel bells regularly ring the Angelus in the morning and evening. This makes the ringing a recurring daily marker in Hrazany. If the timing matters for your plans, ask locally for the exact times.
The memorial lime trees were planted in honour of the 1891 Jubilee Exhibition in Prague. A memorial stone in the village square commemorates Soviet troops under Marshal Malinovsky, who rested there on 11 and 12 May 1945. The connections differ: the lime trees are linked to an exhibition in Prague, while the stone commemorates troops staying there on two specified days.
Several stone crosses are among Hrazany’s monuments. Two crosses carved from a single stone each are located nearby. One is more than a metre high and bears engravings of a sword and a tailor’s scissors. Both its height and the two motifs draw attention to specific details of its craftsmanship. Hrazany is also home to several traditional timber-framed wooden buildings; they are now privately owned. Together with the stone crosses, they represent different building methods.
Cycling and hiking trails
Cycle route 1154 passes through Hrazany on its way from Kostel nad Vltavou to Sedlec-PrÄŤice. A red-marked hiking trail also passes through the village, running between Milevsko and VysokĂ˝ Chlumec. The routes can be distinguished by activity and destinations: one is a numbered cycle route, while the other is a red-marked hiking route with a different pair of endpoints. As current signage for both should be checked locally, it is worth checking before setting out.
Another geographical point of reference is the geological formation “Kněz”, about 0.5 km north of Hrazany. Its location adds a geological feature to the cultural points of interest and places it north of the village. If you would like to explore Hrazany beyond its memorial sites, this offers a different thematic perspective.
When looking for a holiday apartment for your trip to Hrazany, you can choose your focus: historical points of interest sit alongside two clearly distinct routes. Consider whether the memorial sites are your main priority or whether you would rather plan your stay around a cycling or hiking trail.
