When exploring Lhota, the village layout and history are a clear focus; when it comes to nature, the key distinction is access. HlinĂĹ™ is not open to the public. By contrast, a field path leading to the Lhota u DynĂna Natural Monument is open to the public year-round. Anyone planning a visit to the area should bear these different conditions in mind and treat nature and cultural experiences as separate topics.

Village Layout, Architectural Styles and History

Lhota is a village with a triangular square. It also has farmsteads built in the folk architectural style of the Blata region. The farmhouse at No. 11 in Lhota u Dynína has a façade with a prominent arched frieze: a specific architectural detail alongside the larger form of the village square. This gives travellers interested in culture a chance to view local architecture at different scales, from the layout of the village to the design of a single façade.

The oldest written records of Lhota date back to the 14th century. A later historical turning point concerns the former village of Německá Lhota, which was flooded when the Záblatský rybník pond was enlarged between 1580 and 1582. These recorded dates mark different chapters in the village’s history and should not be combined into a single account of its development.

The history of Lhotský Dvůr can also be placed in a specific timeframe. A sheepfold was added there in 1613, under the Švamberks. During the Thirty Years’ War, the entire manor farm was destroyed; the Schwarzenbergs rebuilt it in stone in 1693. There is also a wayside cross from 1905 on the road to Lhotský Dvůr. Another wayside cross stands on the road towards Chudobinec. Together, these places and structures offer several different ways to explore local history, without representing the same period or historical context.

Wetlands and Access Conditions

The Hliníř protected area preserves a valuable transitional peat bog ecosystem with protected and endangered plant species. Its distinctive features also include fauna associated with the habitat, particularly invertebrates. Hliníř is part of the Hliníř–Ponědrážka area. The access restriction is essential for planning a visit: the protected area is not open to the public.

The Lhota u Dynína Natural Monument covers 7.25 hectares and protects waterlogged peat meadows with rare and protected woody species. It consists mainly of waterlogged meadows and the adjoining southeastern shore of the Bošilec pond. The pond is about 500 metres from Lhota u Dynína. A field path that is open to the public year-round provides access to the natural monument and is the simplest way to reach it. After unusual weather or changes to land management, it is advisable to check local conditions before visiting.

Black-necked grebes, greylag geese and gadwall nest along the pond margins within the natural monument. The species composition may vary seasonally, so these birds are better taken as an indication of the habitat than as a guaranteed sighting on every visit. Comparing the site with HlinĂĹ™ is useful when planning: both are valuable wetlands, but public access is described only for the Lhota u DynĂna Natural Monument.

Cycling Route and Suggested Areas of Interest

For cycling visitors, the 66-kilometre “Rožmberská vodní díla – Zelená severní cyklotrasa” route passes through Záblatí, Lhota and Bošilec. Its length and the places named along it provide a practical point of reference when choosing a cycling route, but do not imply a particular length of stay. Visitors primarily interested in the village layout and historical details can focus on those topics. Those wishing to include natural areas should first consider the different access conditions. This makes it possible to organise Lhota’s points of interest according to visitors’ interests and the available access.
