Rokytnice lies in the Hornomoravský úval and in the Haná ethnographic region. During your stay, you can focus on architectural and local history or on the wooded areas and cycling routes. A distinctive cultural feature is the ensemble of the chateau, church and other components; the landscape and route connections offer a different emphasis.

The Chateau Ensemble and Its Architectural History

St. James's Church, together with Rokytnice Chateau, the adjoining park, the garden nursery and former farm buildings, forms an ensemble listed as a cultural monument. For those interested in architecture, the focus is therefore not on a single building alone, but on a group of connected components.

Rokytnice Chateau is a three-wing, two-storey building in the High Baroque style, with a park. The three wings and two storeys describe the building's form, while High Baroque identifies its stylistic period. The building thus combines specific details about its layout with a period designation.

A notice dated 9 May 2025 stated that the chateau complex was accessible during the day. Check current access arrangements before your visit.

The Museum and Historic Routes

The Hasičské muzeum Josefa Eichhoffa (Josef Eichhoff Fire Brigade Museum) was established through the complete reconstruction of a former fire station dating from 1905. Its connection to the depot offers a different historical perspective from the High Baroque architecture of the chateau.

Visits are possible on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 8:00 to 15:00 by prior telephone arrangement. Arrange your visit by phone; opening hours may change.

Hradská is another point of reference for the town's older history. As early as 1086, the historic road ran around or through the future Rokytnice, connecting the castle district centres of Olomouc and Přerov. The surviving wording leaves open whether the road at that time went around the town or through it.

Woodland and the Bečva

The Moravian Bečva is about 600 metres from Rokytnice at its nearest point. There are wooded areas along the river and in the northern cadastral area towards Kokory; those by the river consist mostly of deciduous trees.

Dolek is a small wood planted with deciduous and coniferous trees in the northern cadastral area of Rokytnice. Its name gives the landscape a specific local reference, while the information about the Bečva describes the river's approximate distance from the town.

Cycling Routes and Their Different Details

The Bečva Cycling Route passes through Rokytnice and is intended not only for cyclists but also for inline skaters, hikers and cross-country skiers. The route therefore caters to several types of activity.

Cycling route 5042 Prostějov–Věrovany–Citov–Přerov passes through the municipal area. West of the built-up area, it follows road III/43515 and later uses local and purpose-built paths.

The route information differs: for the Bečva Cycling Route, several intended activities are listed; for route 5042, the road and path sections west of the built-up area are described. Check route conditions before setting out.
