Beňov combines a clearly defined riverside location with a hilly setting and a strong local culture of remembrance. The village lies on the left bank of the Moštěnka, in the foothills of the Podbeskydská pahorkatina. Its defining features include the Stojanova lípa, the Church of St Francis of Assisi and the A.-C.-Stojan Museum. The activities of the local riding club add another dimension. This combination of landscape, church history and club life gives travellers several distinct ways to explore the village.

Riverside Landscape and Memorial Tree

The riverside location and the hilly foothills are two distinct points of reference: the Moštěnka describes Beňov’s position by the river, while the Podbeskydská pahorkatina defines the wider landscape. The village can therefore be understood both in terms of its immediate relationship with the river and the surrounding hills.

The Stojanova lípa adds a local memorial dimension to this landscape. The tree is a memorial tree and was voted Tree of the Year in 2007. The award and its memorial status are two different aspects: the year of the vote marks a historical recognition, while its status as a memorial tree carries its own significance for the village’s history.

Church and A.-C.-Stojan Museum

The Church of St Francis of Assisi offers a precisely dated connection to church history. Its foundation stone was laid on 19 June 1854, and it was consecrated on 4 October 1857. Just over three years lie between the two dates. Together, they provide a clear chronological framework for the church’s construction: one marks the laying of the foundation stone, the other its consecration.

The small A.-C.-Stojan Museum was established in 1993 to mark the 70th anniversary of Antonín Cyril Stojan’s death. The collection includes surviving personal belongings from Stojan’s lifetime and the archbishop’s school records. It also features hymn books, models of his busts and monument, pictures and books, as well as vestments and other liturgical objects connected with him. The collection thus ranges from personal and school memorabilia to religious objects. The specific items on display may change over time.

Riding Club, Events and Local Cuisine

The Beňov riding club brings together several different activities: it offers training for young riders, agritourism and exercise therapy for people with physical disabilities. The club also holds traditional Hubertus rides every year in Beňov, Kyselovice, Břest and Staré Vsi. The training and therapy programmes, on the one hand, and the recurring rides, on the other, represent different aspects of riding and club life.

A specific local food event has also been recorded with a date: at the traditional “Zabíjačkové hody” on 17 January 2026 at the Sokolovna in Beňov, locals, visitors from elsewhere and tourists were able to sample traditional pork specialities. This information links a dated event with a culinary glimpse of the local event culture.
