Uitwa offers several specific points of interest for a stay: the Church of St. Vitus, Cycling Route No. 2232, which passes through the village, and the Třasák Lookout Tower on the southern edge of the municipality. The Church of St. Bartholomew in Přílezy provides a distinct focus on architectural history. Anyone looking for a hotel in Uitwa can shape their stay around culture, cycling or architectural styles.

St. Vitus: Architectural Style and History

In Uitwa itself, St. Vitus stands on a hill at the northeastern edge of the municipality. The church was built by the Milevsko building workshop in the first quarter of the 14th century; its first written mention dates from 1354. The construction period and the written mention mark different historical points of reference: one places the building’s origins in context, while the other identifies the earliest written record. Architecturally, St. Vitus is a single-nave Gothic church. This means the church has a single nave, adjoining a three-sided presbytery, or choir area. A rectangular tower stands on its north side. The ground plan, choir termination and tower position thus form precise features of this building.

St. Bartholomew in Přílezy

The Church of St. Bartholomew in Přílezy offers a different historical perspective. It is a late Romanesque church of the Cistercian type, built in the second quarter of the 13th century. Its first written mention dates to 17 September 1354. It was given a Gothic style in the 14th century and remodelled in the Baroque style in the 18th century. The term “Cistercian type” classifies the building architecturally; its late Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque features show how the church developed over time. Přílezy has a compact historic settlement preserved around the village green, as well as the Church of St. Bartholomew and a cemetery. A crucifix on a stone plinth stands in front of the church. At the site of the crucifix, the original Neoclassical cross was replaced by a new one at the beginning of the 20th century.

Cycling Route and Lookout Tower

Cycling Route No. 2232 Bečov–Toužim–Nečtiny passes through Uitwa. It is 39 kilometres long and classified as moderately difficult. The distance and difficulty rating offer two ways to assess the ride: its length and its stated level of challenge. Cycling can thus be considered as a distinct focus alongside the cultural and historical attractions. The Třasák Lookout Tower stands on the southern edge of the municipality and is 12.5 metres high. Its hexagonal structure has three storeys; the stone ground floor is topped by a structure made of impregnated spruce wood. The tower’s height, ground plan, number of storeys and change of materials make it a clearly defined architectural feature that complements the architectural styles of the churches described above.
