Doubí Castle introduces the history of the town, the Vánoční dům displays Christmas decorations year-round, and the Ohře Valley, accessible from the town, offers a focus on nature. Doubí lies in the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area. When looking for a holiday apartment in Doubí, it helps to set a clear priority: should cultural history, the Christmas exhibition or nature take centre stage?

Doubí Castle: history in several stages

The name of Doubí Castle is documented from the mid-14th century. In the 17th century, a park with a viewing terrace was laid out by Doubí Castle; between 1739 and 1756, the castle acquired its Baroque appearance. The park and the Baroque transformation therefore belong to separate historical periods. The sequence runs from the documented name through the history of the park to the castle’s later form. Those interested in architectural and local history will find a timeline here that cannot be reduced to a single date of construction.

The Christmas House in every season

The Vánoční dům is the first and only Christmas house in the Czech Republic. It offers a year-round exhibition of Christmas ornaments and decorations, so the theme is not limited to Advent. The Andělská Café in the Vánoční dům serves Christmas pastries and Vánočka. Check the current opening hours before your visit if you are planning the trip for a particular day.

The two cultural attractions offer different experiences: Doubí Castle presents a history stretching from its name, documented since the 14th century, to its Baroque appearance, while the Vánoční dům displays Christmas ornaments and decorations all year round. You can therefore focus on architectural history or the Christmas theme, depending on your interests.

Svatý Linhart wildlife park

Svatý Linhart wildlife park covers 40 hectares and is open to the public free of charge. The Svatý Linhart treetop trail includes two wooden tree houses and a viewing platform connected by walkways. A bridge structure in the wildlife park takes the route up to six metres above the ground in places. The figures refer to different scales: 40 hectares is the area of the park, while up to six metres is the height of some sections of the route.

The Ohře Valley and other activities

The Ohře Valley, accessible from Doubí, can only be reached on foot or by bicycle. Plan your mode of transport accordingly if you are going on an excursion there. The starting point of the route through the Ohře Valley can be reached from the Tržnice stop by MHD bus No. 6. This connection takes you to the start of the route; in the valley itself, you travel on foot or by bicycle. Check the timetable for the day of your visit. From Doubí, you can also climb to the former excursion inn “Sv. Linhart” and try out the attractions at the climbing centre there.

The main difference between the nature attractions is the type of route: in the Ohře Valley, you travel on foot or by bicycle, while at Svatý Linhart, tree houses, a platform and walkways define the visitor experience. This makes it easier to decide whether you prefer a valley route or an elevated trail.
