Porcelain, architectural history and landscape offer different themes for a trip to Pirkenhammer. The Pirkenhammer porcelain manufactory is located in Březová, where buildings and historic sites also tell the story of the town. The valley reservoir on the Teplá offers another perspective on the landscape. The places below provide specific points of interest to help you plan.
Porcelain Manufactory and Factory Museum
The Pirkenhammer porcelain manufactory in Březová was founded in 1813. UPAK produces porcelain in Březová, and its products bear the designation of origin PIRKENHAMMER. Here, you can encounter both the manufactory’s long history and the craftsmanship of porcelain making. A factory museum is associated with the manufactory.
UPAK invites interested visitors to get in touch or visit the premises in person. If you are planning a visit, confirm the contact details and arrangements before you travel. You should also check access to the factory museum in advance; visiting hours are not included here as part of the trip-planning information.
Church Art and Local History in Březová
The Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary was built in 1893 in the Neo-Gothic style at the foot of Zámecký vrch, in the centre of Březová. The church contains 14 valuable oil paintings of the Stations of the Cross dating from the mid-18th century. The building and its furnishings thus come from different periods—an interesting starting point if you are interested in architecture and art.
A memorial plaque in Březová marks the site of a former smithy. Peter the Great forged a staff and a horseshoe there in 1711. The plaque connects a specific place in the town with this historical episode. Starý mlýn offers another perspective on the town’s architectural history: the half-timbered building was built in 1898 as an excursion café and restaurant. Its original purpose adds the former use as a destination for outings to the church and craft themes.
Walk and Landscape on the Teplá
Route 8 runs from Poštovní dvůr through Březová to the terminus of the Karlovy Vary–Březová bus line. This describes a starting point, the route through the town and a named endpoint. Check current trail conditions and bus connections if you include the walk in your plans.
A valley reservoir on the Teplá can be visited in the municipality of Březová. It adds a landscape highlight alongside the manufactory, architecture and local history. The Teplá continues to Karlovy Vary and flows into the Ohře in the city centre. This puts the view of the reservoir in the context of the wider river system.
When planning your trip, you can treat the cultural sites, the walk and the reservoir as different points of focus. This lets you decide whether porcelain and architectural history, or the route and river landscape, should take centre stage.
