Ledce combines an active amateur theater with a local history that stretches from the village square to a remote spot. For a theater-focused stay, the specific performance date is an important planning anchor: the ensemble performs every year, so you should plan your trip around the performance you want to see. If you would rather plan a hike, you can choose between two KČT trail destinations: Domousnice or Loučeň. Historic buildings and memorial sites, along with features of the municipality’s landscape, offer additional reasons for a stay.

Amateur Theater on the Village Square

The amateur theater ensemble in Ledce is active and stages performances every year for the surrounding area. Performances take place in an open-air theater or in a hall with a stage, full theater facilities and a curtain. Local residents built the open-air theater on the village square near the chapel in 1955; it is still in use today. If you are traveling to see a particular performance, check the date in advance.

The Chapel of Panny Marie Karmelské, built in 1873, also stands on the village square. A new bell was consecrated and installed in the chapel at the open-air theater on 19 July 2003.

Memorial Sites and Local History

A monument in the center of Ledce commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars; it bears the names of 34 local residents who fell in the wars. A memorial ceremony for the victims of the world wars is held every year at the Národní pouť in Ledce. The monument and the recurring ceremony represent two forms of remembrance: a permanent site in the center and an annual occasion. If you wish to travel specifically for the ceremony, check the date before setting off.

A timber-framed farmhouse on plot 35 is considered architecturally valuable; the historic center of the village is also considered an area of urban-planning significance. The difference lies in scale: the farmhouse is a single building, while the historic center covers a larger area.

A fortress still stood in Ledce at the beginning of the 17th century and was destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War. The outlying site belonging to Ledce is called Kačírna or Kačerovna. A hut for a duck keeper originally stood there, and many ducks were kept in a pond; later, a forester’s lodge was built on the same site.

Landscape and Hiking Destinations

The natural features of the municipality include the watercourses Vlkava, Ledecký potok and Svatojířský potok. They are joined by the ponds Ptácký rybník and Bumbálek. In addition, a single European beech (Fagus sylvatica) in Ledce is designated as a memorial tree. Watercourses, ponds and a single tree dedicated to remembrance all form part of the landscape.

There are two KČT trail destinations to choose from: the green-marked trail with ID 661 leads from Ledce to Domousnice. Trail No. 2264, which is also marked, runs between Ledce and Loučeň. You can choose your hike based on its destination. Check the current trail conditions before setting out on a particular route.
