An elongated ridge above a meander in the Sázava leads to one of the notable archaeological sites in the municipality of Ledečko: the Vraník “Na Skalách” hillfort site. A cycling route and the Sázava water route are also specific travel highlights of the area. You can plan your stay around archaeology, cycling or water trips.
The Vraník “Na Skalách” hillfort site
The Vraník “Na Skalách” hillfort site is a significant archaeological site in the municipality of Ledečko, immediately north and east of the Vraník settlement. The hillfort is northeast of the settlement, on an elongated ridge above a meander in the Sázava. A ditch and a badly damaged outer arched rampart are visible.
The terrain and visible traces together help explain the site: the ridge and meander form its topographic setting, while the ditch and damaged rampart are the recognizable features of the fortification. If you are interested in archaeological sites, this combination of landscape and traces in the terrain offers a tangible way to explore Vraník “Na Skalách”.
Cycling route and water route
Cycling route 3/B is about 17 km long and runs from Sázava via Talmberk and Ledečko to Bělokozly and back to Sázava. This makes Ledečko one of several stops on a route that returns to Sázava. The approximate total distance and named sequence of places provide a specific route outline if you would like to make a cycling trip the focus of your stay.
Ledečko also lies on the Sázava water route. This is a different travel option from the cycling route: the latter passes through Talmberk and Bělokozly before returning to Sázava, while the water route connects Ledečko with water trips on the Sázava. You can plan these as separate activities rather than combining them into a single tour.
A natural feature between Ledečko and Samopše
Přívlacká mušle is a natural meander in Přívlaky, between Ledečko and Samopše. At the Vraník hillfort, a meander in the Sázava forms part of the site’s topographic setting; at Přívlacká mušle, the natural meander itself is the named landscape feature. Thus, two different interests complement one another: the archaeological traces at Vraník and a natural landform at Přívlaky.
Plan your stay around your interests
If you are looking for a holiday apartment for a stay in Ledečko, it helps to decide first what you would like to focus on. Cycling route 3/B has an approximate length and a named sequence of places; the Sázava is the main focus of the water route. Vraník and Přívlacká mušle, in turn, differ as an archaeological site and a natural meander.
