Žabonosy brings together a themed cycling route dedicated to fruit growing and a rich history of its church and mill. The signposted Středočeská ovocná stezka runs through the village; the Church of St. Wenceslas and the former Rozkoš watermill represent distinct historical themes. When planning your visit, decide whether to focus on a cycling stage or on the local history of architecture and use.

Before setting off, check the signs, the condition of the route and its infrastructure.
The Church and the History of the Village
The Church of St. Wenceslas is one of the oldest and most remarkable monuments in the Kolín region. On 3 May 1958, it was entered in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under number 40018/2–887, together with the mortuary, the surrounding wall, the cast-iron cross and the stone staircase.
The original Romanesque church dates from the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries. The ashlar masonry survives up to two-thirds of the tower’s height, as does the entire western part of the church. On the south wall of the nave is a Romanesque portal arch with a round-headed opening and a spiral band; a window above it has been bricked up. These features differ in scale: the masonry and west end are larger surviving sections, while the portal arch and spiral band are details in a precisely identified location. A fortress was built at the newly established farmstead in Žabonosy; it is first mentioned in 1584 in a debt instrument issued by Bohumil.
Rozkoš Watermill
The former Rozkoš watermill, house number 15, lies on the northern edge of Žabonosy near the railway stop and is not accessible. Check access before visiting. The mill was first mentioned in 1654 as part of the Žabonosy farmstead; at that time, it had three overshot waterwheels supplied with water from the pond via a millrace. Milling ceased in 1934. The building was then converted into a dwelling, a purpose it still serves today. The dates mark different periods: the first mention and technical equipment, the end of milling, and the subsequent residential use.
Tajuplná místa Podlipanska
Žabonosy is linked to the regional Tajuplná místa Podlipanska project as stop no. 10. A sign about the project is located in the village centre, on a slope beside the main road, a short way above the road bridge over the stream. Check the sign’s current location before visiting.
