The Zrmanja and its fishing areas

Of the Zrmanja’s total length of 69 kilometres, 24 kilometres run through the Municipality of Ervenik. The stretch that flows through the municipal area is part of a river with both mountainous and lowland characteristics, as well as rich flora and fauna. Here, the Zrmanja brings together different landscape features in a place closely associated with the municipality.

For sport anglers, two details about the Zrmanja are important: the SRD Natura fishing zone extends from the bridge in Ervenik to Jankovića buk and also includes the Krupa River. This is distinct from the Zrmanja stretch from Kusac to the bridge in Ervenik, which is designated as a sport fishing area for brown trout. A fishing licence is required for sport fishing in the waters of SRD Natura; permits are sold by SRD Natura. Check permit information before fishing.

Archaeological heritage and structures

The Ivoševci–Mokro Polje–Radučić archaeological zone is an important part of the built heritage of the Municipality of Ervenik. Archaeological sites can be found throughout the municipal area. They span numerous historical periods and attest to the continuous settlement of this area.

Otonska gradina in Oton is a partially preserved late medieval fortification. In Mokro Polje, Keglevića gradina preserves the remains of a tower belonging to the Croatian noble Keglavić family. Grad in Radučić is also a partially preserved late medieval fortification. These sites offer different states of preservation: tower remains in Mokro Polje and partially preserved fortifications in Oton and Radučić.

The Hram Svetog apostola Luke in Mokro Polje was built in 1537. In the past, the Mokropoljsko Jevanđelje, an important monument of Slavic written culture, was kept there for many years. The aqueduct from the Glib spring via Stara straža and Očestovo to Radučić is also part of the built heritage. The Crkva sv. Georgija in Radučić is listed as a protected cultural property in the Croatian Register of Cultural Properties under code Z-6039; the register entry dates from 2013.

In Mokro Polje, a collection tells the story of the everyday life, customs and crafts of the Dalmatian population. It also includes old photographs from the region. Alongside the buildings, it brings everyday life into focus.

Mokropoljski susreti and living tradition

The Mokropoljski susreti take place in Mokro Polje. A 2017 report describes them as an annual event that had already been held for more than half a century at that time. It lists a cultural, sporting and entertainment programme for the 2017 susreti. Younger generations could get acquainted with traditional competitions such as donkey racing, stone throwing, tug-of-war and balota. If the event is important to your travel plans, check the latest dates.

A dated road update

The first phase of resurfacing on the Mokro Polje section of Ž 6054 was completed on 4 March 2026. If this section is relevant to your journey, check current traffic information.
