Bezjakov dol in Marinići is a protected karst doline. For a cultural perspective, visit the Središnja knjižnica Marinići, the public multipurpose building Dom u Marinićima, and explore local music and carnival traditions. When planning your trip, you can focus on these separately: protected landscape on the one hand, institutions and traditions on the other.

The “Tragom Halubajskih zvončara” route passes through Marinići and Trtne on its way to Ronjgi. It combines asphalt, gravel, and forest paths—three different surfaces along the route.

Cultural Places and Traditions in Marinići

The Središnja knjižnica Marinići opened in 2003 on the ground floor of Dom Marinići. It includes collections for adults, children, and young people, as well as a newspaper and magazine reading room and a work and study area. The cultural program at Središnja knjižnica Marinići includes workshops, book presentations, exhibitions, and theatre performances.

Dom u Marinićima is a public multipurpose building. Historically, it served as a social and cultural hub; today, it provides the basis for cultural, social, and event activities.

The Limena glazba “Marinići” has operated under its current name since 1993. During the tourist season, it performs in coastal and island towns from Istria and Kvarner to Dalmatia. Its local history and seasonal performance profile offer two different insights into the band.

Traditionally held during carnival season, the Ženski maškarani boćarski turnir takes place at the Marinići bocce court. Masked teams from Viškovo and the surrounding area gather for the event. The tournament is therefore a direct link to carnival season in Marinići.

Kuća halubajskega zvončara houses an interactive museum about the Halubajski zvončari tradition and the Pust customs of Viškovo. In the centre of Viškovo stands the church of Sv. Matej, built in 1862 on the site of an older chapel. Here, local customs and the history of a specific church building feature as distinct cultural and historical themes.

The “Od kalića do kalića” route connects Blažići and Mladenići. It passes through forested areas, over hills with views, and by hidden kalići. The route is suitable for an easy one-hour walk or a bike ride.

Lončeva Griža is a viewpoint in Lučići at an altitude of 506 metres. From there, the view extends over the Kvarner Bay, the Grobnik Field, Gorski Kotar, the Velebit mountain range, and neighbouring Slovenia. On the rocks below the viewpoint is an open-air exhibition of works by members of the amateur artists’ association Braća Baštjan. The works are inspired by traditional motifs from the Viškovo area; individual pieces may change.

The šterne are also part of the cultural and historical heritage: every settlement in Općina Viškovo has at least one central šterna. Once an important source of life for the community, today it serves as a reminder of the past and of earlier ways of life.
