Ravna Gora combines marked hiking trails, a nature trail, and architectural history. When planning, it is worth distinguishing between trails in the town and destinations in the Municipality of Ravna Gora: this lets you choose between hiking and local culture, and additional cycling and winter activities in the wider destination.
Hiking Trails and Nature Trail
The Ravnogorski planinarski put is an established hiking route with twelve checkpoints; Ravna Gora is checkpoint 1. Another hike starts in the Vrh area of Ravna Gora and follows marked trails to Javorova kosa. The trail passes through meadows and evergreen forest and leads to a mountain hut, the Božji studenac spring, and viewpoints. This identifies both landscape sections and specific destinations for planning your hikes.
The “Plodovi gorja” nature trail is in the Suhi Vrh hill area, about 700 metres from the centre of Ravna Gora. It starts in the meadow behind the Breza restaurant. Along the 1.5-kilometre trail, information panels provide insights into the vegetation of Gorski kotar, including trees, shrubs, mushrooms, medicinal plants, and berries. The distance of about 700 metres refers to how far the trail is from the centre, while 1.5 kilometres is its length. If you are interested in particular plants and nature topics, you will find more here than simply directions along a trail.
Architectural History and Events
The Church of St Teresa of Ávila in Ravna Gora was originally built in 1777 and rebuilt in 1907 to plans by the architect Hermann Bollé. In the Ravna Gora area, the Camino Gorski kotar passes the Chapel of St Florian, built in 1874. Ravna Gora is also on the old Karolina Road, which connected the town with Karlovac and Rijeka after it was built in 1727. These historical connections add different architectural and transport histories to your route planning.
The Ravnogorska Salamijada also offers a dated glimpse into local events: its third edition took place in 2025, and its fourth in 2026. The 2025 programme included a guided family walk along the “Plodovi gorja” nature trail. If you would like to plan your trip around a festival, check the date of the relevant edition.

Stara Sušica offers a different focus: it is home to Stara Sušica Castle and the “Velike zvijeri” visitor centre. The centre offers information about bears, wolves, and lynxes; a multimedia exhibition creates the impression of a forest environment. The Frankopan Trail starts near the castle and visitor centre.

The printed map “Ravnogorske zelene staze” shows the main cycling routes, natural attractions, and cultural monuments. If you would like to use the map for planning, check in advance whether it is available. It provides an overview of several topics; the named cycling routes, by contrast, can be compared by their respective type and length.
