Bogomolje combines a coastal landscape with tangible historical landmarks. Bays and beaches lie to the north and south of the village; at the same time, traces of its history range from a Baroque parish church to a complex of buildings with a bread oven and a fossil collection.

Beaches and Getting Around Bogomolje

Among the many bays and beaches on both sides of Bogomolje are Bristova, Pelinovik, Pogorila, Kozja, Smokvina and Smrska. Dense pine forests line the beaches, and the surrounding area is characterised by well-preserved nature.

Bristova is a useful reference point for orientation: the local port is located in this bay on the northern side. It is about three kilometres from the centre of the settlement.

The Church, Jerkov Dvor and Older Traces

Bogomolje’s small Baroque parish church dates from the 17th century. South of the church is Jerkov Dvor, with an old house, a kitchen and a bread oven built in 1898. A fossil collection is kept in the house.

However, Bogomolje’s cultural character is not limited to its buildings. The preserved local heritage also includes threshing floors and a distinctive mix of local dialects. Traces of older cultures have also been found in caves.
