The Municipality of Slivno has 22 kilometres of coastline between the mouth of the Mala Neretva and Moračna Bay. The coastal municipality lies in the Neretva Valley. Slivno Ravno, officially the Municipality of Slivno, comprises 18 settlements at the confluence of the Neretva and the Adriatic. Along the coast, numerous coves and peninsulas alternate with several smaller islands—a landscape that shapes the character of the area.

Coves and Coastal Towns

The coves along Slivno’s coast have pebble beaches and are relatively far from larger settlements. This location contributes to their peaceful, relaxing character. In Klek, olive groves frame the bay; the town also has long pebble beaches. Rajska plaža is well suited for sunbathing, and Klek has sports and leisure facilities.

Duboka offers a different coastal impression: the small, quiet cove lies beside a pine forest and has a pebble shore. In Duba, the beach and sea are the main attractions. Each town therefore offers a distinct coastal landscape—from the olive groves near Klek to the pine forest by Duboka Bay.

Komarna: Vineyards and Tastings

Komarna combines coastal scenery with winemaking. The town has exceptionally clear waters and is shaped by light Maestral winds; vineyards cover its slopes. Terra Madre’s vineyards in Komarna cover approximately 16.55 hectares. Terra Madre’s products from these vineyards are organically certified.

Vinarija Terra Madre includes a wine cellar, a tasting room and a terrace. Tastings feature Plavac mali, Pošip and rosé. The winery serves them with homemade pršut, cheese, olives and bread. A visit thus brings together wine tasting and a selection of regional foods.

From the terrace, the view stretches across the sea to the Pelješac peninsula; the outlines of the islands of Brač and Hvar are also visible. This panorama complements an insight into winemaking with a sweeping view of the coastal landscape.

History and Activities

Several sites in Klek tell stories from different eras. The necropolis with stećak tombstones dates back to the 14th century. The Nonković Tower in Klek and the ruins of Smrdan-grad above the town date back to the 17th century. These historic remains therefore span the period from the Middle Ages to the early modern era. The Stećak Gallery has a different cultural role: it is a meeting place for visual, performing and other artists.

In Blace, its location at the mouth of the Neretva, together with the summer winds, shapes the town’s watersports scene, attracting kitesurfers and windsurfers. At the Neretva estuary, shallow water and steady winds are particularly suitable for beginner kitesurfers. Schools in the estuary area offer kitesurfing lessons and equipment rental.

Slivno Ravno also offers a different perspective on the area. The town lies at an elevation of about 229 metres above sea level, offering views of Pelješac and the surrounding islands. Coastal coves, vineyards, historic sites and watersports showcase the different sides of the Municipality of Slivno, so exploring the area need not be limited to a single focus.
