Explore Dubravci through three specific themes: the activities of the KUD Paurija cultural association, the September festival Jesen u Pauriji, and the 36-kilometre “Srce prirode” cycling route. This gives you different options when planning your trip: folklore and everyday culture, a stay centred around the festival, or cycling along a recommended route.

Folklore and ethnographic heritage

The KUD Paurija Dubravci cultural association has four sections: choir and folklore, tamburitza, drama, and ethnography. The association collects and rehearses songs, dances and customs from the Paurija area. Its work therefore ranges from music and dance to theatrical and ethnographic themes. Several KUD concerts have been held at the Church of St Anne in Dubravci.

The ethnographic house in Dubravci presents authentic everyday objects in a permanent exhibition. It also provides space for demonstrations of traditional customs and crafts. Another historical musical tradition is the KUD’s Epiphany Christmas concert at the Chapel of the Three Kings in Dubravci: on 6 January 2017, the association had already been holding it there for eleven years.

Jesen u Pauriji in September

Jesen u Pauriji takes place every September and brings together folklore groups from Karlovac County as well as guest groups from other areas. The 18th edition was held in Dubravci in 2025. The recurring festival includes competitions in traditional rural games and autumn farm work. If you plan to time your trip to coincide with the festival, check the date of the edition you want to attend in advance.

Cycling route and road connections

The 36-kilometre “Srce prirode” route includes Dubravci in its recommended itinerary. Belavići, Gršćaki, Mračin, Gradišće and Zvečaj are also named. The distance refers to the entire route and helps distinguish its overall length from a stay in the village alone.

The road connection is also clearly defined: local road LC 34064 connects Dubravci on the D 3 with Venac Mrežnički on the D 23. Dubravci is often described as one of the central settlements of Paurija, a region between the Dobra and Mrežnica rivers. However, its boundaries and the classification of individual settlements are not uniformly defined.

Cultural heritage in the wider destination of the Municipality of Netretić

The wider destination of the Municipality of Netretić offers further cultural and historical attractions. Stari grad Novigrad na Dobri Castle was built by the Frankopans and remained in their possession until 1671; its ruins still stand. The Bridge over the Dobra is one of the oldest river bridges in Croatia, measures 122 metres in length and has ten openings.

Religious buildings also contribute to the cultural heritage of the Municipality of Netretić: the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Novigrad na Dobri is among the oldest churches in this part of Croatia. It developed from a 15th-century Gothic chapel and was given a Baroque style in the 17th century. Restaurants in the Municipality of Netretić are also associated with traditional local cuisine, especially lamb from flocks kept on local pastures.
