In Deyang, you’ll find a range of themes to explore: historic architectural styles, sculptural art, and landscaped riverside and wetland areas.

Culture and Architecture

The Deyang Confucian Temple is a large-scale temple with regional characteristics and one of the best-preserved Confucian temples in western China. In June 2001, it was added to the list of nationally protected cultural heritage sites as part of the fifth group. Its layout follows traditional Chinese architectural principles and comprises three courtyards. The main buildings stand along the central axis, while the auxiliary buildings are arranged symmetrically on either side. The courtyards, central axis and symmetrical side buildings make the layout itself a distinct feature, alongside the temple’s protected status.

Another cultural highlight is Deyang Stone Carving Park. Its art wall features 35 arched openings as well as the large relief groups “Life Song” and “Wisdom Light.” The park was created as a byproduct of the widening of Taishan Road. Its named artworks and specific origin story are central to the site: the relief groups define its artistic focus, while the road-widening project explains how the park came about. Together with the temple, the park offers a different perspective on Deyang’s cultural sites, through stone reliefs and the development of the urban landscape.

Riversides, Wetlands and Paths

Jinluowan Ecological Park features natural ecological slopes along the riverbank and extensive ecological wetlands created by landscaping the riverbanks. This origin is useful when choosing a landscape to visit: the slopes and wetlands are part of a riverside area shaped by riverbank landscaping. In this way, the park offers a landscape-focused contrast to Deyang’s architectural and artistic sites.

The eastern stretch of Jinghu’s waterfront extends for nearly one kilometer and includes landscaped green spaces, a fitness trail and a cycling path. Jinghu Hall has two viewing platforms, a waterside platform and a boat dock. Xuanzhu Lake Park has an 800-meter-long waterside boardwalk. These measurements refer to different features: at Jinghu, to the stretch of waterfront with its green spaces and paths; at Xuanzhu Lake Park, to the length of the boardwalk. This distinction helps put the respective waterfront designs in context, rather than simply comparing the distances.

Liushayan Ecological Wetland Park has wetland paths and a cycling path. Deyang’s landscape offerings therefore include not only riverside areas but also paths through wetlands and opportunities for cycling. When comparing the parks by their main features, the paths take center stage at Liushayan, while Jinluowan is characterized by riverside slopes and extensive wetlands.

When looking for hotels in Deyang, first decide what you want to focus on during your trip: the Confucian Temple and Stone Carving Park are known for architecture and relief art, while the landscape parks feature riverside design, wetlands and paths.
