Discover Berthier-Sur-Mer from the water: a sandy beach more than one kilometer long and the Parc fluvial on the St. Lawrence River define the town. There are also water sports, seasonal cruises, and the Église de Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption as a prominent landmark. Visitors can choose from a variety of ways to spend their stay—from a picnic by the shore to activities or a trip on the water.
Beach and River Park on the St. Lawrence
Berthier-Sur-Mer’s sandy beach stretches for more than one kilometer. Free parking is available there for residents and visitors. The beach and Parc fluvial offer different experiences: one centers on the sandy shore, while the other offers time by the water, with opportunities for picnicking and relaxing outdoors.
Parc fluvial is located on the shore of the St. Lawrence River and is known for its exceptional panorama and striking sunsets. Along the waterfront promenade, information panels help visitors identify the many islands of the L'Isle-aux-Grues archipelago. A visit to the park can therefore combine views of the islands with a chance to learn about them.
Water Sports and Seasonal Activities
A small beach area in Parc fluvial offers swimming, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and kayaking. Canoeing and light sailing are also available seasonally at Berthier-Sur-Mer beach. Beach recreation is seasonal, ranging from swimming to various water sports.
At the beach, Orange SUP offers stand-up paddleboarding introductions and SUP yoga. This program varies by season. If an introduction or SUP yoga is important to your trip, check before your visit to see whether it is available during your travel dates.
Marina and Cruises
The ticket office and the dock are at the marina, at 110, chemin de la Marina. This is the boarding point for all cruises departing from Berthier-Sur-Mer. Cruise operations are seasonal and may change. If you plan your stay around a cruise, check the latest departure dates in advance.
There is also a large free parking lot at the marina. The Marina Le Havre de Berthier-Sur-Mer has 65 seasonal members; visiting boaters can moor their boats there. Membership numbers and operating conditions may change. Parking rules at the beach and marina may also change, so check them on site.
A Distinctive Landmark
The tall bell tower of the Église de Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption is a prominent landmark in the landscape of Berthier-Sur-Mer. It adds a distinctive building to the waterfront and island scenery. Those interested in the different sides of the town can find a cultural landmark here, alongside the beach and water activities.
