Discover Leclercville on foot and from the water. The 4.2-kilometre Sentier 4 Saisons connects the village with the Moulin du Portage and follows the Rivière du Chêne. It offers impressive scenery and is rated moderate, with some more technically challenging sections. Both the route between the village and the mill and the trail’s varying levels of difficulty are worth noting.

Hiking Along the River

The Sentier pédestre de la Rivière du Chêne is a short walk from Parc de l’Île and is also rated moderate. Maples and hemlocks line the trail, which also passes various beaches and possible beaver dams. Unlike the Sentier 4 Saisons, this trail focuses on riverside features: vegetation, beaches and possible beaver dams shape the route, while the other trail connects the village and the mill and includes some more technically challenging sections.

Kayak Access Points and Route bleue

As part of the Route bleue Québec/Chaudière-Appalaches, Leclercville provides two launch points for kayaks and boats with a shallow draft: Quai de Leclercville and Parc de l’Île. Both have parking, restrooms, picnic tables and boat launch facilities. Quai de Leclercville also has a ramp for small motorized boats; launching kayaks and canoes there is free. The named paddling route is the 12-kilometre Boucle de l’île et des Navigateurs. It runs from Parc de l’Île de Leclercville to Quai de Lotbinière, is rated moderate and takes two to four hours. Note the different place names: Quai de Leclercville is a launch point, while the route ends at Quai de Lotbinière.

Compare Distance and Time

For day planning, the loop takes two to four hours. Both hiking trails are rated moderate; the Sentier 4 Saisons also has more technically challenging sections. The 4.2-kilometre hiking trail and the 12-kilometre kayaking route refer to different ways of getting around.

Riverside Scenery and Paragliding

Parc de l’Île is situated on the banks of the Rivière du Chêne and the St. Lawrence River, between cliffs and the village. The park and rest area are intended for Leclercville residents and visitors alike; tides and wind shape the site. Paragliders use the cliff at the Leclercville rest area as their launch point.

Exhibits at the Presbytery

Leclercville’s presbytery has permanent exhibits on the family origins of Félix Leclerc and the founding families. Public exhibitions are held there during the summer season. The permanent exhibits focus on family connections; public exhibitions are seasonal. If you are planning to visit the summer exhibitions, check the current dates before your visit.
