Rexdale brings together very different reasons to visit: a year-round indoor amusement park, horse racing and a paved, 19-kilometre riverside trail. Music, comedy and theatre performances, as well as Punjabi cuisine, are also part of the local scene. When choosing a vacation rental, it helps to decide first which of these aspects you want your stay to focus on: indoor fun, events, nature or food.

Horse Racing and Events

Woodbine Racetrack opened in 1956 as a 780-acre facility with several racetracks for Thoroughbred and Standardbred racing. Today, it hosts Thoroughbred and harness racing. Admission to the races is free; admission is charged only on King’s Plate race day. Check the information for your date before you travel.

The Woodbine complex has thousands of free parking spaces, accessible from every entrance. As parking conditions may change, it’s a good idea to check the latest information before you travel. Dining is also available throughout the larger complex, including dining areas, outdoor dining spaces and food and drinks to go from the food court. These offerings may change.

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto offers poker, with a variety of games and tournaments. The Theatre at the resort hosts music, comedy and theatre performances. If a show is the focus of your stay, check the schedule for your visit, as it may change.

Fantasy Fair: Rides and Carousel

Fantasy Fair in Rexdale is a year-round indoor amusement park. Its full-size rides include a total of 12 attractions, and there is also a 15-metre Ferris wheel. The Antique Looff Carousel retains the structure it has had since 1911. The original wooden horses have been replaced with fiberglass replicas. The carousel is one of 13 Looff carousels still in operation.

The three-storey Dreamer’s Play Village has three curved slides and a toddler area. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian there; children taller than 60 inches are not permitted to use the slides. As facility information may change, check the rules before your visit.

Along the West Humber River: Trails and a Mural

Accessible from West Humber Parkland, the 19-kilometre West Humber Recreational Trail is paved and follows the West Humber River. Along the water, it connects several parks. West Humber Parkland includes wooded areas and recreational spaces; the trail is also considered a good place to observe wildlife. It offers a different focus from rides and event venues, with the riverside landscape, park connections and wildlife viewing taking centre stage.

The Meeting Place Mural is located near the destination, on the Humber River. The 110-metre-long mural depicts people and wildlife from the area around the river. It adds a cultural stop to the nature and landscape experience without requiring you to treat the trail and event offerings as one and the same.

Punjabi Cuisine and Finding Accommodation

Rexdale has numerous Punjabi restaurants and dining options serving North Indian cuisine. For specific meal plans, check individual establishments before your visit. This makes it easy to fit this culinary highlight into your travel plans alongside horse racing, live performances, indoor fun and nature.

When looking for a vacation rental in Rexdale, your interests may be the deciding factor: Would you rather watch a race or a show, visit Fantasy Fair, or spend time by the river and in the parks?
