Ingomar’s connection to the coast is reflected in its public boat access points and nearby beaches. When planning, it’s worth distinguishing between beach visits, birdwatching, and activities on the water: different options take center stage depending on the location.

Nearby Beaches and Their Features

Ingomar Beach is a secluded, 800-metre-long sandy beach near the small community. It’s suitable for walking and beachcombing. Roseway Beach is a wide sandy beach near Ingomar, where you can enjoy long walks, birdwatching, and exploring the shore.

At Roseway Beach, a shallow freshwater river separates two sections of beach and connects an extensive wetland with the sea. The wetland and beach provide habitat for various bird species, including the protected piping plover. Stay on the designated trails there.

Ingomar Beach offers free parking, but has no lifeguards, washrooms, change rooms, or picnic tables. Wheelchair access is limited; dogs are welcome on a leash. As beach conditions and facilities can change, check the current situation before your visit. Seasonal water temperatures are approximately 16°C in July and 18°C in August; swimming is a secondary activity there.

Boat Access and Paddling

A public gravel boat launch is located on Black Point Road. On Ingomar Road, there is a public slipway and a public concrete boat ramp. Check the current conditions at each facility before using it.

In suitable weather, you can paddle from Ingomar to Cape Negro Island. This is weather-dependent; also take changing sea conditions into account when planning. The present-day reinforced-concrete lighthouse tower on Cape Negro Island was built in 1915 and is recognized as a provincial heritage property.

Staying Overnight in Ingomar

Whispering Waves Cottages is located in the village of Ingomar and has six deluxe cottages. Each has two bedrooms and a queen-size bed, and can accommodate up to six people. The number of bedrooms and stated capacity can help you determine whether the accommodation meets your space requirements.

Guest offerings include bicycles, fishing rods, boogie boards, and boat trips. Guests can also walk to Roseway, Round Bay, or Redhead Beach, or cycle there on a borrowed bicycle. These options are described as cottage guest offerings; check their availability with the property in advance.
