The history of the Matriz
Construction of the old Igreja Matriz de São João Evangelista was completed in 1902. The municipality finished the restoration work by the end of 2018; in 2019, the church reopened with a solemn Eucharist. Fazenda São Roberto is also part of the municipality’s historical context. Major Joaquim Roberto Rodrigues Freire founded it in 1865; in 1874, it was sold to Sabino Soares de Camargo. In December 2023, the Centro Cultural was located on Rua Itirapina, next to the Unidade Básica de Saúde in the Jardim Cruzado neighbourhood.
