A specific calendar date to consider for a cultural trip to Clementina is Semana da Cultura Nordestina. It takes place annually during the week that includes October 8; a municipal law dated June 25, 2026, added it to the official events calendar. This makes it possible to plan a visit around a recurring October date, while individual program items should be checked separately.

Settlement History and São João Batista

Clementina’s settlement history begins with the place formerly known as Fazenda Promissão. Early agriculture included coffee plantations with about 32,000 coffee plants. São João Batista is the municipality’s patron saint; in 1937, the construction of a church for the settlement was proposed. The former name, coffee cultivation, and religious tradition are therefore distinct aspects of the area’s history.

In 2019, Clementina held a festival for São João Batista as part of the municipality’s anniversary celebrations. It included a procession from EMEF to Igreja Matriz, followed by a patron saint mass. The traditional quermesse at the festival featured fried foods and drinks. These elements illustrate different parts of that year’s festival program: both the religious proceedings and the quermesse offerings.

Corn Cuisine, Handicrafts, and Market Formats

At the second Festa do Milho Verde in 2019, attendees could sample a variety of green corn specialties. By contrast, fried foods and drinks were part of the quermesse at the São João Batista festival. The two events have different culinary focuses: green corn took center stage at Festa do Milho Verde, while the quermesse’s food was part of a religious festival.

Municipal regulations provide for the sale and display of handicrafts, small-scale handmade products, culinary arts, and horticultural products at the Feira de Arte, Artesanato e Horticultura. The Feira may also be held as a so-called Feira Noturna, or night market. The specific dates and locations are set by ordinance. So if you plan to visit this market, check the current date and location in advance.

Workshops and Cultural Programs

The Aprendendo a Fazer Brinquedos Tradicionais workshop was announced in Clementina for June and July 2024. The plan was to make kites, spinning tops, Barangandão, and other traditional toys. The theme combines a specific hands-on craft activity with traditional toy forms.

In August 2025, free ceramics workshops at a local studio were announced as part of PNAB-Artesanato. Each participant was to make a cup and saucer. At Brilha Clementina 2025, Praça Central was used for Christmas lighting. The program also included a dance performance by children from Academia da Saúde and a closing concert by the group Samba e Resenha. These examples range from a planned ceramics project to dance, music, and Christmas lighting; each relates to the programs and years mentioned.

Clementina is part of the Tietê Vivo tourism region. When choosing when to travel, it is worth distinguishing between the annual Culture Week and individual festivals or workshops in their respective years. If you want to coordinate your accommodation with a particular event, check its current date and whether it is taking place in advance.
