The municipality of Turvo’s main river, the Rio Amola Faca, crosses it from east to west. Together with historic and religious sites, this gives your stay a range of possible focuses. When planning, it is worth considering destinations in the town centre, within the municipality and in the wider region separately: they are in different locations, even though they are connected by themes such as culture, history and landscape.

River and landscape in the wider region

Morro Pelado is an important geomorphological landmark in the Turvo region. Access is via the paved SC-285 between Turvo and Timbé do Sul. From there, a short unpaved stretch leads to the entrance to the Geomonument. Road conditions and access rules may change; check locally before setting out.

The river and Morro Pelado represent different geographical contexts: the Rio Amola Faca crosses the municipality of Turvo, while Morro Pelado is described as a regional landmark. If you include both in your trip, plan them according to their locations rather than assuming they form a single continuous route without checking first.

Cultural history and places of faith

The Centro Municipal de Cultura Antônio Bez Batti, which houses the Museu Histórico Lourenço Manenti, is located in a house built in 1936 and 1937. The building was protected as part of Turvo’s municipal heritage and subsequently restored. The building’s history and the museum are part of the same place.

In the centre of Turvo, the Capela de Madre Gertrudes stands next to the Igreja Matriz. The Igreja Matriz tells the story of Madre Gertrudes and the miracle attributed to her, described as the only one of its kind in Brazil. The municipality’s cultural history also includes the CTG Vale da Amizade, founded as the first CTG in the Vale do Araranguá.

The Gruta Nossa Senhora de Lourdes is located in the border area between the municipalities of Turvo and Meleiro. It is a place visited by the faithful and religious visitors for visits, vows and prayers. In Linha Seminário, the Gruta de São Peregrino is next to the Seminário Menor Servos de Maria and the Capela Nossa Senhora das Dores. The grotto is associated with prayer requests written in notebooks provided there, prayers and drinking water that flows from the grotto. Check current visiting arrangements in advance.

Events and local traditions

An announcement dated May 4, 2026, listed the Festa do Colono and the Arrancada Catarinense de Tratores in Turvo’s official events calendar. It described the events as their 26th and 18th editions, respectively. If you plan to travel for either event, check the current dates.

A description from 2010 says the Festa em Honra a São Peregrino takes place annually on May 4. The account described a procession from the chapel to the Centro de Eventos Professora Iria Angeloni Carlessi, a mass and a gathering afterwards at the Parque de Exposições Ires Olivo. Attendance was reported as approximately 2,000 faithful.

A visit to SĂtio Recanto das Pitayas

SĂtio Recanto das Pitayas is located in the Linha Contessi community in Turvo. It is regularly visited by people looking for seedlings and pitaya fruit. If you would like to buy either there, contact the producer before your visit.

Accommodation and visit planning

When looking for a hotel in Turvo, you can first decide which visits will shape your stay: cultural history in the town centre, religious sites in their respective locations, or destinations in the wider region. Arrange your itinerary according to the geographical location of each stop, and check current local conditions before driving to Morro Pelado. For events, the relevant dates apply; the announcement mentioned above refers to specific editions.
