The Estação Férrea is a historic site in the municipality and has been fully revitalized. It is the starting point of the “Nos Trilhos do Tempo” tourist route, which runs through the municipal seat. Restinga Seca thus connects a tangible trace of local history with nearby destinations: from stops along a cultural route to a river landscape, geological formations, and thermal pools.

Local history around the Estação Férrea

The Estação Férrea was the economic center around which the settlement of Restinga Sêca grew. Its history therefore also offers insight into part of the town’s development. Today, the fully revitalized station is also the starting point of the “Nos Trilhos do Tempo” route. It runs through the municipal seat and past the Igreja Matriz Sagrado Coração de Jesus. The route also includes a craft fair at the Prédio Dr. Miguel De Patta. The Paróquia do Sagrado Coração de Jesus was founded on August 28, 1938. Together, these stops offer a range of historical and cultural points of interest without merging them into a single site.

Events such as Brick da Estação are also held at the Estação Férrea. If you would like to plan your visit around one, check the dates separately. A dated fair event took place in March 2026: ExpoRestinga was held in Restinga Seca from March 19 to 22 and was the eighth edition of the fair. This date refers to the 2026 event; it does not indicate a recurring date.

River landscape and geology in the surrounding area

Balneário das Tunas is located at Passo das Tunas on the Rio Vacacaí, 12 kilometers from downtown Restinga Seca. It is accessible by paved road and lies on the border with the municipality of Formigueiro. Buraco Fundo, a geological formation created by erosion and a geosite of regional significance, is also located in the area around Restinga Sêca. The two places offer different points of interest: for Balneário, the riverside location and distance are useful reference points; for Buraco Fundo, the focus is its erosion-shaped formation and geological significance.

Fazenda dos Meios is another geodiversity site. It is on private land; its features include outcrops of irregular rock surfaces and small embankments no more than two meters high. The access route for visits is an unpaved road leading from the settlement of Arroio do SĂł toward Restinga Seca. Check local access conditions before setting out.

A ruined bridge is another historic site in the surrounding area. It is in the settlement of Passo do Jacuí, on the banks of the Rio Jacuí, at the border between Restinga Sêca and Cachoeira do Sul. Its riverside location between the two municipalities gives this site a different geographical context from the Estação Férrea in the municipal seat.

Thermal pools as a distinct attraction

Termas Romanas in Recanto Maestro, Restinga Sêca, comprises a thermal park covering approximately 150 hectares. It includes six pools—four warm and two cold—as well as nine hydromassage ofurôs. The spring water emerges at 42 °C; in the indoor and outdoor pools, it is kept above 38 °C. These figures distinguish the temperature of the spring water from the temperature in the pools. Alongside local history and geology, this offers another clearly described focus for trip planning.
