Olive oil, rose gardens and cultural history offer different perspectives on Gramado. The topics range from an olive grove in the city’s interior to squares and cultural sites. When planning your stay, you can consider what interests you most: landscapes and olive oil, architecture and history, or events and gastronomy. Each of these themes offers a different focus, without forming a fixed route.

Landscapes, olive oil and roses

Olivas de Gramado is located in Linha Nova, in the city’s interior, on a canyon and surrounded by Atlantic Rainforest. The grove has more than 12,000 olive trees from six varieties. Visitors can learn about the olive oil production process there and taste different olive oils with guidance from an expert. In this way, landscapes, cultivation and olive processing are brought together as related themes.

The Belvedere – Vale do Quilombo viewpoint offers a different perspective: from there, you can see a landscape in various shades of green; the viewpoint is 85 meters above sea level. Praça das Rosas, in turn, is planted with hundreds of rose bushes. The three places have different focuses: olive growing and tasting at Olivas de Gramado, a landscape view at the Belvedere and roses in a square. If you would like to compare nature and plant-related themes as you plan your trip, these places offer different ways to explore them.

Squares, streets and architecture

Praça das Etnias showcases architecture associated with the German, Portuguese and Italian cultures that colonized Gramado. The Italian House is also located in this square. It preserves an extensive historical collection about families of Italian origin who colonized Gramado. The building was erected in the Várzea Grande district and later moved to its current location. Praça das Etnias thus brings together architecture, family history and the history of the building.

Other public places also have their own significance: Rótula das Bandeiras symbolically honors the Brazilian states through the flags hoisted there. Ladeira das Flores, also known as Rua Torta, is a winding path lined with various types of flowers along a section of Rua Emílio Sorgetz. The Palácio dos Festivais building is designed in the colonial style; its façade is ornamented with the figure of Kikito. These examples differ in form—from a symbolic tribute to a winding stretch of street to a building with a distinctive façade.

History and cultural collections

Igreja do Relógio was inaugurated on February 5, 1961, and dedicated to the Apostle Paul. The Tourism Museum in Gramado focuses on a collection about the history of Festa das Hortênsias. The Major José Nicoletti Filho Museum presents the story of Major José Nicoletti Filho in a dedicated room and through five interactive information panels. Espaço Cultural Estação Férrea conveys Gramado’s past, among other things, through a screening room. The topics therefore range from the history of a festival and an individual to the city’s past.

The Portuguese House is a nonprofit cultural center that explores Gramado’s Azorean past and the Hortênsias region. It celebrates the continuity of this vibrant culture, which is closely connected to Gaucho culture and Gramado’s history. Together with the collection at the Italian House and the architecture at Praça das Etnias, it highlights different cultural influences without reducing them to a single tradition.

Events, gastronomy and getting around

Rua Coberta serves as a venue for events and performances throughout the year. Its original name is Rua Madre Verônica; it connects Avenida Borges de Medeiros with Rua Garibaldi. Along with shops selling chocolate, leather goods, clothing, knitwear and gifts, it has bistros and cafés as well as other shopping and dining options. The street thus brings together event venues, shops and dining options in one place.

The Central de Informações assists visitors with questions about excursions, gastronomy or accommodation. It is located in central Gramado, at the intersection of Avenida Borges de Medeiros and Avenida das Hortênsias. For help finding your way, this information center complements Gramado’s wide range of cultural, landscape and urban attractions with practical information about these areas.
