The coast of Luiz Correia combines varied beach conditions, wind-dependent water sports and landscapes that change with the tides. When choosing accommodation, itâs worth first deciding which of these experiences matter most for your stay.
Beaches and Water Sports
Praia de Atalaia has a wide sandy beach and gentle waves, making it well suited to families. The water at Praia do Carnaubinha is calm and warm, and the beach is good for swimming. Other beaches have a stronger focus on wind: Praia do Coqueiro is one of the places most frequently visited by kitesurfers for the sport. At Praia do Itaqui, conditions for stand-up paddling, kitesurfing and surfing depend on the tides and wind. Shifting dunes and natural pools also shape the landscape there.
Tides and Coastal Views
At low tide, Praia do Coqueiro offers an especially good view of the coral reef. At Praia do Arrombado, an estuary forms at low tide, with coral banks. The tides shape the two coastal landscapes in different ways: at Coqueiro, the reef view is the highlight; at Arrombado, itâs the estuary. If you want to plan for one of these experiences, take the tides into account when planning your visit.
Farol do Itaqui is an attraction in the late afternoon. From there, you can see the beach and, in particular, the sunset. This time of day offers a different focus from the coastal views shaped by low tide.
Nature and Local Connections
Ărvore Penteada is considered a landmark in the history of tourism in LuĂs Correia and is of great importance to local tourism. Porto de LuĂs Correia is located at Praia de Atalaia.
Encanto dos GuarĂĄs at Praia do MacapĂĄ offers an opportunity to observe nature, including wildlife and birds. Pedra do Sino in the municipality of Brejinho is also associated with an ecological hiking trail, geodiversity and local tradition. Both were reported in November 2025 as part of validated tourist route offerings; route details may continue to evolve. Their focus differs: Encanto highlights wildlife and birdwatching, while Pedra do Sino highlights geodiversity and local tradition.
Depending on the season, a significant population of manatees is often observed between Praia do Peito de Moça in LuĂs Correia and Praia da ItĂŁ in Cajueiro da Praia. The two beaches mentioned are therefore in different municipalities, and sightings are seasonal.
Restaurants and Regional Cuisine
There are 28 restaurants along the waterfront at Praia de Atalaia, offering a variety of cuisines. Individual businesses may change; check current information if youâre planning to visit a particular restaurant. A municipal notice dated July 21, 2026, also mentions restaurants in the new Mercado Municipal de LuĂs Correia, serving breakfast and lunch featuring regional cuisine. Offerings and operations may change. If you specifically want to eat there, check current information before your visit.
