Londrina brings together a range of interests for visitors: botanical and ecological topics, walking trails in green spaces, scientific experiments, museums and performance venues. When planning your visit, it is worth organizing these offerings by the focus you want. This will help you decide whether to prioritize nature and environmental education, science, or architecture and culture.

Botanical topics and trails in green spaces

Jardim Botânico de Londrina serves to protect biodiversity, support scientific research, provide environmental education and offer recreation. For planned visits, environmental education activities, events and partnerships, it welcomes school groups, public and private institutions, universities, organizations and other interested visitors. Its various purposes bring together nature conservation and research with learning and recreation; planned visits are explicitly part of what it offers.

Parque Municipal Arthur Thomas has a different emphasis: it features a large forest area with walking trails. In contrast to Jardim Botânico, the focus here is on the forest area and its walking trails. If you are weighing environmental education and recreation against a walk in the forest, the two places offer different options.

Exercise, community and a market at Zerão

Zerão has a 1,050-meter running track. It also hosts various community arts, cultural and sports activities. The Feira de Produtos Orgânicos in Londrina is also held at Zerão on Saturdays from 08:00 to 12:00. The venue therefore offers both a specific Saturday-morning event and opportunities for exercise and community activities. Compared with the large forest area and walking trails at Parque Municipal Arthur Thomas, the length of the running track at Zerão is clearly specified; the two places offer different ways to spend time outdoors.

Science and experiments

Museu de Ciência e Tecnologia de Londrina consists of three sections: Centro de Ciências, Observatório and Planetário. It also features more than 30 scientific experiments. This three-part structure gives its scientific focus a clear framework: alongside Centro de Ciências, it also includes Observatório and Planetário. This makes it possible to distinguish the museum by subject from the city’s art and history museums, while the experiments further illustrate its scientific focus.

Museums, architecture and cultural venues

Museu Histórico de Londrina “Pe. Carlos Weiss” has been housed in the former Londrina railway station building since 1986. Museu de Arte de Londrina has three exhibition rooms and a courtyard for cultural events. In 1974, it was listed as a heritage site as Paraná’s first public building of modern architecture. This gives you distinct museum experiences to choose from: the Historical Museum in the former railway station, and Museu de Arte with its exhibition and event spaces as well as its protected architectural status.

The history of Cine Ouro Verde brings together films and performing arts: after Universidade Estadual de Londrina purchased the venue in 1978, it was renamed Cine Teatro Universitário Ouro Verde and, in addition to showing films, became a venue for concerts, shows, theater productions and dance performances.

SESC Cadeião currently has an art gallery, classrooms, a library, an event hall and SENAC’s Café Escola. Its specific event program may change. Along with the museums and Cine Ouro Verde, SESC Cadeião adds spaces for art, teaching, reading, events and a café to Londrina’s cultural offerings.
