Guaíra brings together a range of discoveries: a stone building with Hispano-Argentine stained-glass windows, a historic railway artifact, a theater with diverse uses, as well as trails and nature along the Paraná River. When planning your trip, you can choose between architectural and cultural history, physical activity, and nature experiences.
Culture between buildings, railways and the stage
The Igreja Nuestro Señor Del Perdón, also known as Igrejinha de Pedra, was built in 1933 from roughly interlocking stones. Its features include Hispano-Argentine stained-glass windows. The combination of stone construction and stained glass gives the church a distinctive architectural touch.
The Locomotiva Koppel nº 04 is on display at Praça Eurico Gaspar Dutra; it is considered a historic monument of Guaíra. The Cine Teatro Sete Quedas offers a different highlight: it is housed in a building constructed in 1905 and is used for film screenings, plays, shows and artistic performances. This means the area is home to both a historic railway artifact and a building where different forms of film and performing arts take place.
At the Museu Sete Quedas in the municipality of Guaíra, visitors can see centuries-old Indigenous artifacts, taxidermied animals, historical photographs and everyday objects from Companhia Matte Larangeira. Unlike the single locomotive, the museum brings together different kinds of exhibits—from artifacts and photographs to everyday objects.
Trails with different features
The Trilha Marinas is a 3.5-kilometer trail with opportunities for hiking and cycling. Easy, moderate and challenging routes are available. Its length, activities and difficulty levels provide different points of reference for planning a visit.
The Caminhada Ecológica follows a paved road from the former Parque das Sete Quedas to Lago de Itaipu and is considered a historically significant route. Its character is shaped by the link between the named endpoints, the road surface and its historical significance; by contrast, the Trilha Marinas has information about its length, hiking and cycling options, and different difficulty levels.
A permit for the Caminhada Ecológica must be requested at the reception desk of the 15ª Companhia de Infantaria Motorizada, and an identity document must be presented. In this area, access is permitted only on foot and strictly within the space designated by the road. As the procedure may change, check the permit requirements locally in advance.
Nature and experiences along the Paraná River
Boat trips on the Paraná River are offered as a visitor activity in Parque Nacional de Ilha Grande, which also includes the municipality of Guaíra. This connects the nature experience with an activity on the river.
Praia do Sol in the municipality of Guaíra is associated with watching the sunrise and sunset, as well as photographic and contemplative nature experiences overlooking the Paraná River. It can only be reached by boat, motorboat or jet ski. Several professional tour guides in Guaíra offer boat rental services for transportation there. As access and boating services may change, check locally before your trip.
Markets and local produce
The Feira do Produtor in Guaíra is a traditional market offering fresh organic produce and products directly from the farm. This adds a facet of everyday commerce to the architectural, cultural and nature experiences. The schedule may change; check it before your visit.
