For planning your visit, it helps to distinguish between the area around Arapoti and places within the municipality. The offerings range from collections on Dutch immigration and agriculture to themed trails, hikes and excursions through the landscape. Fazenda Boa Vista is in the surrounding area. When choosing accommodation, consider whether cultural sites, trails or travel logistics will be the main focus of your stay.

Cultural History and Collections

The Museu do Trator is located on a rural estate, next to the Deen family’s shed. The estate has a typically Dutch house with furniture and objects preserved there. The museum’s collection comprises more than 50 items, including tools from before the tractor era, early motorised machinery and tractors used by Dutch settlers since their arrival in Arapoti. Agricultural technology and the furnishings of the estate come together here.

The Museu da Colonização Holandesa explores the history of Dutch immigration to the municipality. The Casa dos Kok, also known as the Museu da Imigração Holandesa, presents Dutch culture through its architecture, furniture, clothing and typical culinary objects. The subject thus extends from the history of immigration to cultural expressions reflected in the house and its objects.

The Casa do Lembrador preserves photographs, documents and objects related to the municipality’s history. These include items from former scout groups and from expedition members from the region who fought in the Second World War. The collection was assembled from donations by Arapoti’s pioneer families. The railway is connected with another aspect of the municipality’s history: the former “Cachoeirinha” station is now home to the Memorial Capão Bonito – Casa da Cultura. The Casa da Cultura – Estação Ferroviária houses a collection of paintings, sculptures, photographs, documents and railway objects, including headlights from a “Maria Fumaça” steam locomotive and a telegraph. Municipal records and memorabilia are thus displayed alongside art and railway heritage. Check the respective visiting arrangements before planning a specific visit.

Fazenda Boa Vista in the Surrounding Area

Fazenda Boa Vista is privately owned and belongs to Morro Chato Agropecuária Ltda. Under an agreement signed with the Ministério Público in October 2018, the company fully restored the manor house, chapel and cemetery, investing more than R$2.5 million. The Fazenda also preserves ruins more than 150 years old, as well as remains of the manor house and church. The combination of architectural history, restoration and preserved ruins gives this place a different focus from the collections within the municipality.

Landscape and Themed Trails

The landscape attractions in the municipality of Arapoti include waterfalls and canyons such as the Cânion do Cerrado, where excursions and hikes are offered. The routes also vary in theme: the Trilha da Colonização passes museums, churches and food stops. The Trilha do Monge João Maria includes historic churches and sacred sites in nature. The Trilha do Mel follows trails associated with honey production. You can therefore choose based on your interest in cultural and gastronomic connections, historic and sacred sites, or the theme of honey.
