Curralinho combines a lively festival calendar with local crafts and freshwater destinations. This offers different ways to plan your trip: a festival may determine your travel dates, while beach destinations and river access raise their own planning questions. The local crafts also come in different forms—from bags and baskets made of straw and clay to hand-lettered signs and sacred wooden figures.

Festivals and dates

Several recurring events bring the cultural calendar to life. The Círio de Nossa Senhora de Nazaré takes place in Curralinho on the second Sunday in November. The annual celebration of São João Batista is held from 14 to 24 June at the century-old Igreja Matriz. The Paixão de Cristo is performed annually during Holy Week; specific production details may vary. In September, the Festival do Açaí is the main event at the Arena de Eventos Mestre Zé Dias, a municipal event venue in Prainha, Curralinho. Check the specific dates before travelling; in particular, confirm the festival’s month and venue again for your visit.

Crafts made from different materials

Curralinho’s handicrafts are made mainly from straw and clay. Common products include bags, paneiros and baskets. A cultural project profile describes Rossinhe Nunes Farias as an “abridor de letras”—an artist who creates hand-lettered signs—and notes that he has practised the craft for more than 30 years. At the municipal level, the artisan Manoel Santeiro makes sacred wooden figures.

Beaches and waterside spots

Prainha is at the end of Rua Marambaia in Curralinho and is a beach for leisure activities. Praia do Herivan is a freshwater beach in Curralinho used for swimming. Nearby, Balneário do Bode is on Ilha da Mucura, on the banks of the Rio Pará opposite Curralinho. Visitors can swim in the river and beach area, relax, enjoy regional food and choose from a range of drinks with a view of the river. Facilities and operating arrangements may change; check what is currently available before planning a specific visit.

You can distinguish the waterside spots by what you’re looking for: Prainha is for leisure activities, Praia do Herivan for swimming, while Balneário do Bode also offers relaxation, regional food and drinks.

Getting there and getting around

The main way to reach Curralinho is by river. Plan your journey around river access and check which connection suits your travel dates. In Curralinho, you can get around on foot or by bicycle; mototaxis and taxis are the main local transport options. As availability and local practices may change, ask about the current options for your stay. Getting to Curralinho and getting around locally are two separate planning considerations.

The festivals with specified months take place in June, September and November; the PaixĂŁo de Cristo performance follows the dates of Holy Week. This gives you several possible periods to travel. If a festival is the reason for your visit, plan your travel dates around it and confirm the details in advance.
