Cachoeira do Prequete, also known as Cachoeira do Alfié, has a 30-meter free fall and 1 kilometer of flowing water in its upper section. These two measurements describe different features: the free fall and the watercourse in the upper section. The municipality of São Domingos do Prata also has varied terrain and mountains; the Rio Prata flows through it.

Another natural highlight is Pedra do Cachorro. It got its name from its shape, formed by nature over centuries. The Vales dos Tropeiros tourist cycling route offers a broader regional perspective: it is about 196 kilometers long and connects São Domingos do Prata with Antônio Dias, Dionísio, Marliéria and Timóteo. São Domingos do Prata is also part of the Circuito Turístico Mata Atlântica de Minas, a tourism network.

Cultural Sites and Traditions

Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário stands on a hill in the town center. Another name in the architectural heritage is Grupo Escolar Cônego João Pio, one of São Domingos do Prata’s most historic heritage sites.

Casa da Cultura is a free cultural space open to the community of São Domingos do Prata. It offers courses in guitar, keyboard, percussion and choral singing as part of cultural education for students aged 8 and over. Casa do Artesão is affiliated with Casa da Cultura. The two institutions are therefore connected institutionally.

Guarda de Congo Nossa Senhora do Rosário is one of the oldest religious and cultural expressions in São Domingos do Prata, and can still be seen in the municipality’s streets today. In 2017, it was registered as an intangible cultural heritage of the municipality: Registration No. 001/2017 in the Register of Expressions, under Decree No. 058/2017.

The annual Festa de Nossa Senhora do Rosário is celebrated in the districts and villages of São Domingos do Prata, as well as at the municipal seat. The celebration at the municipal seat takes place in October. The Festival Gastronômico also stands out among the cultural events, adding a gastronomic dimension to the local profile.
