Samambaia offers several distinct reasons to visit: natural and aquatic landscapes, a park with a history tied to houses on the grounds of a former fazenda, and a cultural complex encompassing numerous artistic disciplines. To plan your trip, you can first decide whether protected areas, historical details, or art should shape your stay.

Natural and aquatic landscapes

Parque Ecológico Três Meninas covers around 72 hectares and is a sustainable-use conservation area. It lies within the area of relevant ecological interest known as Juscelino Kubitschek (ARIE JK) and in an ecological corridor. Its springs feed waterways in the region, including the Ribeirão Taguatinga. Both its conservation status and the role of its springs in the regional water network are defining aspects of the park.

Springs are also central to Parque Gatumé, but in a different context. The park was established in 2001 to protect the springs of Córrego Gatumé and make use of the water as a scenic feature. While the springs at Parque Ecológico Três Meninas feed regional waterways, protecting the springs and making scenic use of the water were explicit goals in the creation of Parque Gatumé.

History and park facilities

Parque Três Meninas is located on a former fazenda dating from the 1960s. Three small houses stand on the former estate, built by the previous owners for their three daughters. This history gives the park a concrete connection to the site’s former use and the people who lived there.

Parque Três Meninas also has a skatepark, playgrounds, multipurpose sports courts, and a cycling path. These facilities for a range of activities complement the historic houses. The history of the fazenda and the park’s current amenities offer two different perspectives on the site.

Art and spaces at the Complexo Cultural

The artistic range of Complexo Cultural Samambaia encompasses visual arts, audiovisual arts, circus, dance, music, theater, performing arts, and transdisciplinary artistic languages and forms of expression. It thus extends beyond a single artistic discipline, offering culture lovers a variety of themes to explore.

The complex includes a courtyard, the Cineteatro Verônica Moreno, a multipurpose hall, a theater space, an art studio, a dance room, an audiovisual space, a lounge area, a green space, and a parking lot. From the courtyard and theater and dance spaces to the green space and parking lot, its facilities include a variety of space types. If you are planning a specific visit to the cultural complex, check the latest visitor and event information beforehand.

Planning your trip

Each place has a different focus: Parque Ecológico Três Meninas emphasizes conservation and ecological connections, while the houses tied to the history of the fazenda complement the sports and cycling facilities at Parque Três Meninas. Complexo Cultural, in turn, brings together numerous artistic disciplines and a range of spaces. Choose according to which of these themes you would most like to focus on during your stay.
