Mata de Cazuzinha: rainforest in the city center
According to a municipal statement from May 2025, Parque Florestal Mata de Cazuzinha encompasses more than 14 hectares of preserved Atlantic Forest in the heart of the city. The park therefore offers a clear connection with nature within Cruz das Almas.
In March 2023, guided visits along the park's ecological trail were announced, lasting about an hour and limited to a maximum of 20 people per group. If you want to include the trail in your plans, check before traveling whether and when these visits are currently taking place.
São João: music, crafts and regional products
São João de Cruz das Almas is considered one of Brazil's largest June festivals. During the festival, the Circuito Oton Silva at Praça Senador Temístocles features Forró, Quadrilhas and cultural performances during the day. Also on the square, Vila Artesã brings together items made by craftspeople from the municipality of Cruz das Almas.
The Feira Livre complements the seasonal offerings with agricultural products from the region, including corn and peanuts, as well as traditional and artisanal liqueurs. Casa da Cultura Galeno D'Avelírio is considered an important part of Cruz das Almas's cultural heritage. At the 2026 edition of the Conexão Nordestina project, its opening was marked by a gathering featuring music, dance and traditions celebrating the culture of northeastern Brazil. Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso is also connected with the city's religious history: it was to be elevated to the status of cathedral of the Diocese of Cruz das Almas. Together with São João and Casa da Cultura, it offers another perspective on the town's cultural connections.
