Parque Centenário covers more than eight hectares and was established in an area known as Igapó do Kayrala or Bacurim. If you are looking for a hotel in Brasileia, you can first consider whether nature, the river and border, leisure, or culture will shape your stay.
Nature and a longer route
Amazonian flora and fauna are found in Igapó do Kayrala/Bacurim, including hoatzins and capybaras. The park provides a tangible connection to this natural area; sightings of individual animals are not guaranteed. The Trilha Chico Mendes also runs through a section of Brasileia. The route as a whole is more than 100 kilometers long. This length refers to the entire route, not just the local section. This makes it possible to distinguish between the route’s connection to Brasileia and the length of the full trail.
Rio Acre and the border
The Ponte Binacional Wilson Pinheiro connects Brazil and Bolivia across the Rio Acre. Mirante do Rio Acre offers views of the river and the border with Bolivia. It is near the Centro de Atendimento ao Turista at Praça Rafael Mendes, also known as Mirante, on Avenida Prefeito Rolando Moreira. The two places illustrate different aspects of the border river: the bridge connects the countries, while the Mirante is a lookout point.
Visitor center and regional products
The Centro de Atendimento ao Turista was renovated and reopened on December 13, 2017; it is located at Praça Rafael Mendes. The square is also known as Mirante, while Mirante do Rio Acre is the nearby lookout point. Handicrafts and fruit pulp from the region are offered for sale at the center to visitors and residents. If you are planning a visit or a purchase, check the opening hours and current selection in advance, as the products available may change.
Swimming and leisure
Balneário Kumarurama has a swimming pool and offers horseback rides. Balneário Jarinal is on Ramal Esperança and can be reached via BR 317 (Estrada do Pacífico) at kilometer 5; swimming in flowing water is available there. This gives you a choice between a swimming pool and horseback rides or a bathing spot in flowing water. Before driving to Jarinal, check access and current operating conditions.
Festa de São Francisco
A report dated September 26, 2019, described Festa de São Francisco as a long-standing tradition and noted that it had been celebrated for almost 50 years at the time. The report gives October 4 as the date of a large procession and describes it as starting in the afternoon at Paróquia de Nossa Senhora in downtown Brasileia. If you are planning a visit around the festival, check the dates for your intended year of travel.
